Tuscarora Lake, Pa
I believe its predominantly a trout lake. I've honestly never fished there, though.

Still No Open Water!
Coldsvt and I got out on the Susquehanna river in central PA this afternoon. No bites. The water was pretty high and flowing strong with water temps 38º-39º. Was a good shakedown run for my jetboat. Feeling a bit sore now in those fishing muscles that haven't been exercised all winter. Man it felt good to wet a line!

Looking To Get A New Trolling Motor For Lowes Stinger 175
I disagree with that logic. One of the advantages of an aluminum boat like the OPs is light weight. He could get satisfactory power from a 12 volt motor and you're suggesting he add two more batteries. That's like having another person onboard all the time not to mention the additional expense of the 36v motor, two more batteries, and bigger charger.

Sun Gloves & Headwear ???'s
I use the Columbia gloves and buff paired with the columbia omni freeze sleeves and short sleeve columbia pfg shirts. The little rubber dots on the gloves provide excellent grip. Also I like using the sleeves with the short sleeve shirt instead of a long sleeve shirt for better ventilation. The combo keeps me nice and cool. I've been amazed at how cool you stay just by covering up.

Nepa, North Jersey Ice Out Predictions!
Took the family to Baltimore this weekend. Skirted the Susquehanna from the confluence of west & north branches in Sunbury to Harrisburg and its now ice free. Still some ice chunks flowing out of the north branch right at Sunbury, but nothing downstream. Saw a lot of empty trailers at the launches.

Looking To Get A New Trolling Motor For Lowes Stinger 175
That's a lot of power for an aluminum boat that size! I have 17' starcraft that is similar in design and my 55# motorguide x3 is more than enough motor, even in strong current on the river. Anyway, I have a 36" shaft on mine.

Hook Cutting Pliers
I learned that some of these hooks are just way too strong for diagonal cutters when cutting swim jig hooks for the a-rig. I picked up some 8" bolt cutters at Lowes. Kobalt brand was around $10.

Nepa, North Jersey Ice Out Predictions!
Pulled the boat out of storage yesterday. Going to fire it up tonight and clean the fogger out and clean the carbs. I'm hitting the river on Saturday!

Snell Knot
The snell may not be as strong as the palomar, but it's got a few advantages over the palomar. Especially on weedless rigs.

Snell Knot
I began using the snell on all of my texas rigs last year and I'm really happy with it. I use it with fluorocarbon and one piece of advice I'll give is use some glue on the knot when finished. I keep Mend-IT in my box for fixing my plastics and I use that on all of my snell knots. The combination of the knot with the mend-it is unbeatable IMHO.

Best Lews Reel?
My Bb1 pro has been my favorite reel in my stable of Lew's reels. I'm excited that I now have a second one for deep cranking. It's going to throw a crankbait a mile!

Anything Better Than Power Pro?
Seguar Smackdown. I have it on 80% of my reels. One reel has Power Pro super slick just because it was available locally and I needed line. I definitely like the smackdown better.

Nepa, North Jersey Ice Out Predictions!
Drove over to the Susquehanna about 5 miles from my house and it's 75% open. Where I launch is open for a good half mile in either direction, but there's an ice jam right in front of the launch, with no path to clear water. The best part is the water is moving pretty good, but it's not very high and is pretty clear. I'm planning my first outing for next weekend unless we get a lot of rain before then and it comes up fast.

Nepa, North Jersey Ice Out Predictions!
The best part is that its a slow enough melt off that the rivers aren't flooding. Might be able to fish for smallies before the lakes open!

Absolutely. In this case a little hope is worse than no hope.

Nepa, North Jersey Ice Out Predictions!
Extended forecast is showing 50s and above freezing lows for 5 straight days beginning the 11th! Just what we need. Once we get rid of the snow pack on the ground, things will start to happen quickly.

Nepa, North Jersey Ice Out Predictions!
I was on the susquehanna on March 13 of last year. It wasn't until the second week of April until the lakes opened. I'm thinking it's going to be later for the river this year but about the same for the lakes. I hope so, we have a tournament scheduled for April 11!
