  2. I'm a vocalist and graduated college with a music education degree. I couldn't find a teaching job and took a temporary gig at a printing company to support my family until I found one. 29 years later I'm still working my temp job at the printing company. I did sing in a classic rock cover band and an acoustic band for 10 years where I had the opportunity to play a mean tambourine and bang on some bongos. Good times good times..........
  3. The more threads on Bass Resource I've read over the years about line preferences the more I understand it comes down to personal choice. You can tell that some posters are just repeating what they read and see and hear, but lots of opinions here are based on personal experience and personal choice. I guess my point is to try out a bunch of different line options and figure out what works best for you. For MY preferences, spinning is always braid (to leader). For MY preferences, baitcasting is not braid. These preferences are subject to change.............

  5. Thank you for the review. Small paddletails are one of my confidence baits and I'm always looking for new ones to try.
  6. You are not alone!! How many times have I heard "The most exciting way to catch bass is on a topwater bait!" Ummm, no it's not. THUNK!!!
  7. Congrats on your sobriety! Ditto for me, except it's been almost 15 years. Best decision I ever made and don't miss it. One beer was too many and a barrel wasn't enough. So in that spirit I'll throw in my favorite N/A beers. Top of the list is St. Pauli Girl. It obviously doesn't have that alcohol bite or give you that wonderful light-headed feeling, but it's as close to real beer taste as you can get IMO. Others that I like are Beck's, Clausthaler, Buckler, and Kaliber. Busch N/A is not horrible. Some that are horrible are Sharp's, Coors N/A, O'Doul's and Old Milwaukee N/A. P.S. Heineken 0.0 was a huge disappointment for me. Hardly any flavor at all.
  8. Hi Rob, welcome to Bass Resource. BEAR DOWN!!!!!!
  9. I target smallmouth from April through October. Then walleyes from November through March.
  10. Welcome back @RoLo!!!!!!
  11. Governor Justice in WV is the same way. In a COVID-19 update in early April he mentioned that Senator so-and-so wanted to ban all fishing in the state and that was just about the most ridiculous thing he had ever heard in his life (imagine that being said with a VERY thick southern accent). At the end he said "Go out and catch yerself a trout. It'll make ya feel better!".
  12. That's not even a question Shakespeare. Go fishing!!!!!!!
  13. I use the Trilene Knot for all line types.
  14. I catch river walleyes in winter/spring and I scratch my head when I hear people say walleyes don't fight. I've found any walleye 15"+ in current on a ML spinning rod is going to pull. Hard. If it's over 20" it's going to pull really hard. They know how to use that big wide tail. If you reel them right in with no fight the walleye is too small or your gear is too heavy.
  15. It used to be. My guess is it's now been overtaken by the Mighty Bite fishing lure.
  16. Truer words were never spoken! I grew up in Wisconsin and didn't own or know ANYONE that had a baitcaster. You started with a small spincast rod when you were little then graduated to a spinning rod when you got older and could handle it.
  17. I would "Like" the above post TWICE if I could!
  18. You'll have to pry my Strike King plastics from my cold dead fingers..........
  19. I'm using 10# and 15# Seaguar Smackdown Flash Green and the 10# can be hard to see because it's so thin. But I still think it's more visible than "non" hi-vis line. I don't worry about fish seeing the line. I tie on a leader for abrasion resistance and to make breaking off on a snag easier.
  20. What's the difference between the Cheburashka rig and a swinging jig-head?
  21. Retail Loomis NRX MBR 842c - $525 Abu Garcia LTX - $380
  22. Nope, though I use a uni to uni for braid to leader knots. Sometimes I cut my fingers on braid when I'm snagged and trying to get it out with the "bow and arrow" trick. Not often but it happens, especially with very thin braid. When I'm wearing sun gloves I don't cut myself (I like Fish Monkey gloves).
  23. Welcome to Bass Resource. BEAR DOWN!!!!!!
  24. My favorite trailer for a Strike King Bitsy Bug jig is a Baby Rage Craw shortened by 2 segments. Nice compact jig. I also like the Baby Rage Menace and Rage Ned Bug.
  25. I'm assuming this was a largemouth bass? Aren't they catch and release only in MD from March 1 - June 15?
