  1. I’m excited this has a Kindle edition and just bought it. Haven’t read a paper book in over a decade... ?
  2. Awesome!! I really enjoyed watching the show you did a couple seasons ago and looking forward to this one as well.
  3. ^^^ This! I’ve used 10# Sufix Advance mono on a finesse jig baitcaster and loved it! Low stretch, abrasion resistant, limp, casts great, sensitive. Can’t say enough about this line!
  4. You can have Foles back. Signed, A disappointed Bears fan

Create an account on Tackle Warehouse website. Sign in. Create as many wishlists as you want. Place items in wishlists. Simple. I just logged in and wishlists I created 3 years ago are still there with all the items. I don’t understand why you would boycott the most complete bass fishing store in the country (world?) because items you left in a cart disappeared. Now you know NOT to do that! Get back in there, create an account, and use the wishlists. If you insist on boycotting TW then thank you for leaving more stuff for the rest of us.
  6. I fish the Upper Potomac River for smallmouth (the Shenandoah dumps into the Potomac at Harper’s Ferry, WV) and we have also seen an uptick in musky numbers and a downtrend in smallmouth numbers. But this is the first time I’ve read there’s a correlation between the two. Did the article you mentioned say that? If so, can you site the source? I’d love to read it. The MD DNR now has a smallmouth stocking program for the Upper Potomac. Their explanation for dwindling numbers is flooding during the spawn for several years in a row. I’ve also seen anglers in another forum blame the rising flathead catfish population.
  7. I fish a SK Bitsy Bug jig and Baby Rage Craw trailer. (Sometimes a Baby Rage Menace Grub too). A 3/16 ounce jig + trailer weighs 3/8 ounce so no problem on a baitcaster. It’s a sparse skirt and small profile. I will sharpen the bronze Eagle Claw hook if necessary. It’s not super stout but match your rod and line to the hook size and you won’t bend it out.
  8. This is the only time I peg the weight (I use a rubber bobber stop). I’ve proven to myself over and over that I get snagged less in rocks when I peg the weight.
  9. This summer will be my 10th annual trip to Kentucky Lake. We have always stayed at Shawnee Bay Resort in Benton, KY. Nice cabins, marina with boat rentals, SUPER FANTASTIC OWNERS!! We have visited in May, June, July and August. Late May and early June has been the best ledge fishing(as they move out to the ledges). I would say the fishing has gotten steadily tougher every year and the Asian carp population grows every year. Coincidence? I’ve never been to Dale Hollow so can’t compare, sorry.

My smallmouth fishing is done wading a shallow rocky river. Softbaits: Strike King Ned Cut’r worm, small 3” to 3.5” paddletail, Googan baits Rattlin’ Ned Hardbaits: I’m allergic to treble hooks so... Strike King Bitsy Bug finesse jig (3X)
  11. The only FC I use is 10# on a baitcaster. I’ve tried all different brands and here’s where I’m at now: 1) Seaguar Tatsu. I really thought all the Tatsu hype you read on Bass Resource was just the moderators tooting a sponsor’s horn! Then I tried Tatsu last summer and realized THE HYPE IS REAL! Line management, castability, smooth, supple, limp, abrasion resistant, low stretch. I wouldn’t change anything about this fluorocarbon except the price! 2) Gamma Edge. Handles well and very abrasion resistant. Thicker than Seaguar fluorocarbons though and MORE expensive than Tatsu. 3) Seaguar Abrazx. Worst was Berkley Vanish. It would break on the hookset almost every time.
  12. Now that I think about it, Doug Stange of In-Fisherman uses some Gulp saltwater baits as jig trailers for largemouth.
  13. I’ve used the Gulp Swimming Mullet for smallmouth and walleyes with success. My understanding is the saltwater and freshwater Gulp products use the same scent formula.
  14. I just bought a pair of Skechers for $50 on sale. That’s the most I’ve ever paid for a pair of sneakers.
  15. Upper Potomac - 21.5” smallmouth
  16. On the bite or hook set I say “There’s a fish!”. On the release I say “Thanks buddy” before gently setting it back into the water.
  17. @A-Jay from BR. For the giant smallies and because when I grow up I want to morally be like him. Mark Zona because he seems likes a very genuine person on TV. Denny Brauer because I miss “Brauer Bass Battles”. Denny’s dry sense of humor is the best!
  18. I just got a G. Loomis WPJR 822s GLX rod and a Daiwa Tatula LT 2000D-XH reel. Merry Xmas to me!! I’ll get to use it Sunday morning for the first time. VERY excited!!!
  19. Was “Michiganian” already taken? ?
  20. Mine shows my lack of creativity. My nickname and the year I was born.
  21. For the past couple months I’ve been using Fireline Ultra 8 Carrier in 8# test (crystal color -white). It’s a little stiffer than other superlines I’ve used but not horrible. In fact I’ve been using this without a leader and being a little stiffer makes it easier to tie to terminal tackle. I use a Trilene knot with 7 wraps and it doesn’t slip. Casting distance hasn’t been any less than other superlines of similar diameter. I bought this because the package says “4X more abrasion resistant” and I’ve been happy with the abrasion resistance. I normally use a FC/copoly/nylon leader for abrasion and ease of breaking off snags but haven’t found it necessary with this line. Again this is the 8# Fireline ULTRA 8 CARRIER, not regular Fireline. I’d buy it again.
  22. I am very fortunate to live near a river that has lots of stretches good for wading and if the water level is low enough to safely wade then that’s what I’m doing. Shorts and sneakers when it’s warm enough. Chest waders when it’s cold. I appreciate the fact there will come a time when I physically can’t wade any more and don’t take it for granted!
  23. I fish a river year round but only catch smallmouth from about April-November. I don’t know where their wintering holes are and couldn’t reach them without a boat anyway. The rest of the year I target walleyes below a dam on the river.
