  1. Pole if you're married to your 1st cousin. Lol just kidding.. but I call it a rod.
  2. Around where I fish, older dudes always tell me that someone caught an 7 or 8 pound bass the other day. I highly doubt it. Most recently, some guy told me he saw a 10 lb bass hanging around a dock. I have the pics or it didn't happen mentality lol
  3. For crankbaits I wouldn't use braid. But for the others you can tie a leader.
  4. I don't think the fish really care about the line... they are focused on the frog.
  5. I'll use braid for almost everything, but if I'm throwing a squarebill I'll use mono.
  6. I think gives it a larger profile, and when it flares out it adds to the effect of a crawfish in its defensive stance with its pinchers up. Just my 2 cents
  7. You're going to get a ton of different answers on this, but I'll say what I like. Powell Max 683 for light t-rigs Powell Endurance 714 for bigger t-rigs If you want a good Texas rig rod, an all around would be a sensitive 7' MH F rod.
  8. I'll go as light as I possibly can. I fish pretty shallow waters >8 or less so I usually will go with 1/8 or 1/4. Your range seems fine.
  9. I have caught tons of fish under the bridge in the summer, but they have moved out since then. Also with that point, I have not had any luck fishing there, but I will try again when I get the chance.
  10. I can almost gurantee that this pond I'm fishing is almost all dead plant matter. I have thrown medium diving crankbaits and have dug up dead leaves. There is a cage that was built to hold some sort of fish, and around there is about 9-10 feet deep. I have tried almost everything there but have never caught anything. It is at the very bottom of the pond in the picture. That's where all the deep water is. The little channel is only around 4-5 feet deep, and that strip is a bridge going over the pond. The dead weeds and leaves cover the channel, and the whole right side of the pond in the picture. Where would you start fishing if you came here?
  11. Four knot I use Arbor knot to spool on line Alberto for leaders San Diego Jam for fluorocarbon or mono Palomar with braid
  12. Love to fish jigs in the heat

    Sweet fish!
  14. Its pretty much winter around here, but is it possible that bass would stay shallow hidden in weeds and leaves? This would be around 1-2 feet of water. I was fishing with a guy that offered to take me out on his boat, and he was catching a lot by flipping plastics into the weeds.
  15. I fish a 10 acre pond, and there is literally no visible cover anywhere. I haven't been able to catch anything lately, but while walking around on the bank I have seen activity in the leaves and dead weeds right by the bank. Should I try throwing something in there?
  16. 50 lb for heavy cover. Strong enough to pull them out but still able to get good casting distance.
  17. I just got a Powell Endurance 714 7'1" H rod and it is awesome for jigs
  18. I can already tell this rod is going to be sick for jigs
  19. Just got it in, everything looks good except I don't have time to fish...
  20. I've got the same rod coming in the mail today!
  21. I've heard the Duckett Micro Magic is a much more sensitive rod. Look for them on e bay and get that over a Duckett Ghost
  22. Like the others have said, one that has a good strong frame, and one that you can find the best bang for your buck for me.
  23. I have a Diesel rod, and it is very good, but it is probably less sensitive than the Ghost. You can find Micro Magics if you look for about 110 dollars.
