  1. Your rod is too stiff to throw those light lures.
  2. Skip N Jig under docks.
  3. I've used the KVD square bill before, and also caught my PB on the 2.5. However, I'm starting to make the transition to the Academy crank baits, just because I'm a high school kid and I don't want to spend too much on a lure. Even 5 dollars for one lure is a lot for me. The CRS square bill that they sell has sharp hooks, great paint jobs, and hold up very well. I caught 5 today bouncing them off timber and rocks, and it still looks new. I've broken a ton of 1.5's in the past, so I'm starting to stray away from them.
  4. Welcome to the forums! If you're only throwing crankbaits, I would opt for a rod with a Moderate or Moderate Fast action. I have a Powell Diesel 7' MH Moderate Fast action the I like to use for treble hooked lures. You can find these on the fish ranger for 50 dollars. There isn't an ideal model for crankbaits in the *** Black series, but I guess you could throw them on a fast action rod if you used mono and played the fish correctly.
  5. Academy does make some awesome products. I tried their CRS crankbait today and that thing killed them.
  6. TW. The nearest place other than Walmart is a 1+ hour drive away.
  7. I'm impressed with the Academy CRS crankbaits... these things are freakin' awesome. They are super durable, cheap, and the paint jobs are incredible on these.
  8. If the Giants beat the Cards then I hope the Royals win it all.
  9. If not fishing around trees, longer rods give you a little more casting distance, which helps a lot when bank fishing.
  10. Tatulas can be found for around 100 dollars, I would look into those reels. If you want to go with one that you listed, I would get the Speed Spool. I have one, and it is a solid workhorse reel.
  11. I've tried the H20 crankbaits recently, they are a cheap alternative. Also you could try more durable crankbaits with fiberglass bills (Spros, Arashis, Jackall Aska)

Sounds like you need to get into swimbaiting...
  13. Today's rods are sensitive enough that you can tell when you have a fish just by holding it. I don't hold my line because I pay close attention to what I'm doing.
  14. I'd bet you could use them on the 7'2" with a stretchy mono to make up for the XF tip.
  15. what are you saying.... anyways I caught mine on a KVD 2.5 Chartreuse Sexy Shad
  16. Its the nature of the beast
  17. I am going off of their website. I have experience where I've gotten hung up so I wrapped the line around a thick branch and pulled until the hooks bent out. The line never gave once.
  18. x2 for Hybrid. 12 lb breaks at 19 lbs
  19. Marabou jigs for crappie, but you can pretty much catch anything on those
  20. I also use leftover / used braid as backing. Put a half inch of electrical tape on the spool so it doesnt slip. My reel holds 120 yards of 12 lb line, so I put about 50 yards of braid on. I don't like having too much fluoro on at one time.
  21. Which brand makes the best of these in your opinion? Braid? Mono? Fluoro?
  22. Smaller diameter of line = less resistance in the water = more depth
