  1. Thanks Wayne appreciate the input
  2. Hello all, Getting ready to set up my fathers new z7 up. He is looking at the Helix line from Humming Bird. The question we are both asking each other are from dash to bow what is the best set up for each. i.e. SI and GPS in the dash, and DI and GPS in the bow? My take on it is you are going to scout the area from the drivers seat, so SI and GPS make sense to me there. After the decision is made to fish that shore line or channel edge, or what ever the trolling motor gets deployed and a GPS with DI seems to be the play. OR would you rather have identical units in the dash and on the bow? There are a ton of options now, and I am curious what other people have found to be effective, or have wished they would have done differently. Thanks for the help.
  3. d**n.......I love hearing that. I have a ribbit rigged up on the 7-6MH *** for the AM already. I will let ya know what happens.

  6. Bumped up to 15lb floro and have had no issues at all. Funny how a little adjustment makes all the difference.
  7. I experimented with elect tape and hockey stick tape. Most of the balancing kits in my area are for threaded bass pro shop rods and just would not work with most split grip rods. The hockey tape is more tacky, but peels up easily. The electric tape gave it a better look and does not peel up after a days use. It was the extent of my experiment bc the elect tape got the job done. I would assume there are 100 other ways to do it, but this way hide well and looked fine. Now I am moving to *** black rods, I will see in a few days if this approach will be needed to balance them. I hear great things about balance with these rods.
  8. Go to a home improvement store and geta 4 pack of chair foot caps. Use washers to get the feel you want then elect tape over the cap. It hides well and allows for finding the right feel for you by adding and subtracting washers.
  9. looking at everything mentioned, thanks much

  15. my needs are a 7-4ish frog/swim bait rod which I would think would serve as a spinner bait rod as well, something for jigs, something for plastics, and jerkbaits. I have been a croix guy my whole life so I will be looking at the rage rods as well.

  19. ??? this one makes the most sense of them all.....banana bunches used to hold tarantulas, the bananas would be in the bottom of the boat and the passengers would sleep in the hold below deck as well. The spiders would become active at night and bite the crew while the slept. Many resulting in death.....not new or dumb IMO
