  1. I fished the assassin since September and have been pleased. It's slick through the guides. Sensitive as well.
  2. Ok cool thanks. Back to the lab
  3. At 350 for 20 min with pro tech paint my heads sagged a little. Its not real bad, but they were perfect when I put them in. I painted and didnt get them in the oven until 2 days later. Did that cause a problem?
  4. I got my corbinas with green lenses and they are badazz. High contast view thats for sure
  5. I am putting together 45 jigs for the upcoming season. I got some heads from a BR members, and contacted Mike at Siebert for weedguards. I got my top 3 choices for paint and selected my skirt material. I am having way too much fun assembling my own combinations! I cant wait to fish these jigs. That said I have no interest in pouring the heads. I am not doing it to save money. I am doing it bc I want to tie on exactly what I want, not something close off the rack. Being confident in your baits is huge on the water. I am happy to let the masters do the pouring so I can assemble something that I think is special and that will give me great confidence in the finished product.
  6. Agreed, big help
  7. I used bps kvd 100% fc the whole season last year, and had 0 problems. At 21.99 you have choices cheaper and more expensive but this line from 10lb to 20lb got it done all season for me. I also liked sunline Assassin but had problems with it fluffing.
  8. Sure is. Good colors, tweak the eye and they hunt, and decent hooks.
  9. Nice, I know what I am tinkering with next time out. The size of the 1/4 with the fluke jr seems like it could be a savior on a tough day as well.
  10. So this lift and kill retrieve is most used in the mid 40s? I want to mimic that last gasp.
  11. Understood. At what point do we see the die off in relationship to water temp?
  12. I want to try ripping it and letting it fall on slack line too. While its cold though it seems the creep method was more appropriate
  13. The only problem i had with glass is"if" you had a lure come back and hit you in the lense glass would shatter. That is the only reason i went with plastic.
  14. Were you using casting gear? I fished it on a 7-1 M Om#n 12lb FC and it felt perfect. Could have used a lighter line and been just fine. I could see a spinning application being used as well though I prefer this light casting set up.
  15. Here are a few that liked it yesterday. Nothing real big, but fun none the less.
  16. I was going to go to a boot tail to get more feel as you said, but they were eating the one i had on so it will have to wait til next trip lol
  17. Ok cool, the water was 47 yesterday and the strike was mushy so I let it load up and sweep set it. All the fish were hooked perfectly. I was getting bites around 10ft out of 12ft. I tried to envision the bait hovering off the bottom. I found myself trying to feel the small blade spinning and that really put me in touch on staying slow with it. I wondered how it would do over a grass bed in the spring.
  18. Anyone else fishing these type baits? I had success today with a 1/4 oz head and a fluke jr. I spiked a chartreuse lat line on the fluke as well. I got em to eat a slow retrieve tight to the bottom. How do guys fish em, trailers, ect?
  19. I have blue and just ordered green. I put the green on in basspro and it allows alot more light in as it on an amber lense. The blue is a smoke lense. I have fished the blue for 2 seasons and love em. I cant wait to get the green ones on. High contrast.
  20. I started fishing competitive 2 years ago. This club fished a mix of Delaware ponds, and rivers. I felt like in the ponds I was getting around efficiently and from the back of the boat giving them something the other guys weren't. They hit the cover with the normal stuff and I mop up with the swim jig used a bunch of different ways. Pick apart what they missed....For me more efficient than a bladed jig. It goes easily where the bladed jig struggles.
