Does the bite feel different down under the vegetation? I'm having trouble feeling the bite(or maybe I'm not getting any) I've set the hook a few times now on strange feelings.....nothing but hydrilla. So I guess what I'm asking is how do you know when it's a fish? And don't be afraid to include a little technique if you wanna.Every little bit helps.Thanks.

If you can find them the luhr-jensen brush baby cranks are good for this.If not the square bills are a decent.I also use a crank that floats when you stop it.When you feel it bump something,pause for a second or two and reel or pull it till you bump something again and repeat.You'll be surprised at the amount of treetops you can get thru this way.

I' d say if it's not 10 lbs it's pretty darn close.

I've had good luck pitching them to the inside edge of grass lines.Also holes in the hydrilla or other mats.

I like to throw to them when teh bass fishing is slow.Spinnerbaits seem to be their fav but I've caught a few on cranks,flukes,and worms too.They put up a heck of fight here in North Fla.I'll bet I've landed less than half of the ones I've hooked.Biggest so far is about 10 lbs.Caught on a fat free shad crankbait.
