  1. It happens, we buy stuff because "it's the next big thing" most of us are guilty of it. I have purged my tackle a few times, about due again. Try to figure out what baits/colors work best for you, and go with that. Having too many choices of baits/colors may actually hurt you more than help you. I'm not one to talk, as me and the Bait Monkey are best buds, do as I say, not as I do
  2. Yes, fishing is luck, and about a million other factors, I'd rather be lucky than good any day of the week!
  3. How do you keep the line from twisting if the spool is flopping around in a wastebasket?
  4. Awesome gesture on your part sir, very well done, I hope your holding your head high!
  5. Very good info here, especially the first paragraph about a circle hook. I can't imagine not fishing plastics as they are my bread and butter, just goes to show you, different strokes for different folks
  6. Do any of you guys fish two up front? Whenever I'm in my boat and have a buddy along, I always want them up front with me(makes the bass face slap easier ) because it seems to work out better. Same if I'm in someone else's boat I'll hop my azz up front with them, works out great. Fishing from the back of the boat sucks!
  7. Are you using the same rod, could be a guide causing the break.
  8. This is kinda cool, gives you somewhat of an idea.
  9. Not sure if that's a great price on a discontinued model, it's ok. I'd add a little to your budget and get a NRX, you can thank me later.
  10. Several ways to properly clean bearings, all the above are great recommendations. If in a hurry, I put a bearing on the business end of a pencil, spray it with Berrymans B12 with the nozzle, spin on pencil, and repeat till smooth. I use compressed air to completely dry the bearings, then dip in TSI 301. *Warning* B12 is pretty harsh and very flammable, you don't want to get it on your skin, use with caution.
  11. Yup, sounds like it rubbed you the wrong way, was meant to be funny, hence the smiley face, see
  12. So if you catch a fish, can it be used at weigh in for both of you? If so, I think it's a very odd request.
  13. I will usually LOL, cover my mouth and start pointing at him. Or will slap him in the face with the bass I'm catching. When I take someone that is not an avid fisherman/woman, I will do my best to put them on fish, and educate them on why we are doing certain things. It's usually the former though
  14. Last weekend I lost two original Xcalibur XRK 50 One Knockers, rayburn red, consecutive casts, FML
  15. KVD L&L is all I use and works great, if anyone wants to go in halves on a gallon of KVD, let me know.

  17. Doesn't matter if it's two piece, do you cut your line every time you break the rod down? Tie a leader on and leave that on there, and retie as needed. As far as leader length, you could go anywhere from 18 inches to 18 feet, I use an Alberto knot.
  18. Just get a large enough PVC pipe to fit your combos in.
  19. You can fish without it, it just really makes your line more supple and manageable, this is not snake oil, it works.
  20. If you are taking off braid to put on flouro for a T rig, it will make no difference if the line sinks. There is a weight at the end of your line, so if you're using flouro or anchor rope, it's going to sink. Or you could just attach a leader on your braid.
  21. Bot the rods you mentioned will work great for what you want them to do!
  22. +1 on 6th Sense
  23. KVD is a small pump spray bottle, you spray some on the spool, rotate and spray again. When my line gets dirty, I spray some on a microfiber cloth, take another reel and spool the line from the dirty spool and clean as I reel in and out, line looks new and very clean! I always spray it on the night before I fish, works great for me.
