  1. Never use trailer hooks either...
  2. There is really no wrong trailer for a swim jig and I keep my colors very simple...
  3. I really like my Daiwa Tatula 7' ML\R rod it is an outstanding rod for finesse techniques.
  4. Mr Swim Jig replied to DRT's topic in Fishing Tackle
I always have one of each tied on but I will always grab the jig and fish it 99% of the time, it is just what I am more comfortable with. But if there is no jig bite I will definitely not hesitate to throw a T-Rig out there and fish it...
  5. That is a tough situation and one I find myself in with a friend of mine quite often. He doesn't listen and like your friend he doesn't try to learn on his own. It is very frustrating, so I feel your pain, it is a tough situation to be in. I try my best to be as helpful as possible every time we go out, but sometimes you just have enough. Luckily my wife has really started to enjoy fishing and listens and most of the time out catches me witch makes me mad and makes me want to take my friend out fishing...lol I still take him fishing and I still try and be as helpful as possible and sometimes I do snap at him and then I feel bad and apologize. But I definitely don't go fishing with him near as much as I use to and I feel bad about that as well. So it is kinda like a catch 22 situation...you either just grin and bear it or you just stop taking him fishing and that part is probably tougher then just grinning and bearing it...
  6. The wife My gun Sunscreen Bug Spray Drinks Snacks Cell Phone Music Extra Clothes Tools First Aid Kit and probably a few other things...lol and thanks to Sam I will be adding a tree trimmer....
  7. I have 3 of these rods and love them... 1 for swim jigs, 1 for chatter baits and 1 for spinner baits...
  8. I keep it really simple Palomar Knot for everything but fluorocarbon and then I use the Improved Clinch Knot.
  9. I have used 30lbs braid but I prefer 10lbs mono or co-polymer line for top water fishing. I just prefer the stretch of mono for top water.
  10. Just out of curiosity have you checked your guides on your rod for a bur that could be nicking up your line and causing it to break a little farther up from the knot? But i have also had a bad spool or 2 of line that will just break if you look at it...lol
  11. I prefer 50lbs straight braid no leader for fishing frogs, especially in Lilly pads. As for jigs, creature baits, senkos etc...kinda depends on the cover. But for me 98% of the time it is 12-15lbs fluorocarbon, occasionally I might use 12lbs co-polymer line and if the cover is pretty nasty then I will use 40 to 50 lbs braid.
  12. Square Bill crankbaits...
  13. Swim jig...
  14. Another vote for the non clacker model, these baits are awesome right out of the package...
  15. Can't go wrong with Yo-Zuri Hybrid, still one of my favorite go to lines...
  16. I will throw a swim jig any time and anywhere and any type of weather and water temperature. I prefer a 5/16oz swim jig and a 3/8oz flip & swim jig, 95% of all of my jigs are North Star Custom Baits jigs. Swim jigs work well in any situation, you can fish them in grass, timber, rocks, open water etc.. I will just adjust my trailer size and style for water temp/time of year. I use anything from a single tail grub to a dual tail grub, a swimming senko, soft bodied swim baits, creature style baits...etc There really is no wrong type of trailer to use. You can fish them super slow(dragging across the bottom) to burning them along in the water. In my opinion there really isn't a wrong way or right way to fish a swim jig... Keep the color selection simple, my main colors are white, black and blue, a blue gill type color(I really like New Gill), watermelon red flake and sexy shad. As for line I prefer fluorocarbon in 10lbs and a 7' plus rod medium heavy with a moderate fast action(my rod of choice is a 7' 2" MH/R action rod from Daiwa) and a high speed reel. As for when fishing stained water I will use a soft bodied swim bait like a Reaction Innovation skinny dipper as they create quite a thump...
  17. Swim jig or a spinner bait and if it is early morning or dusk a buzz bait...
  18. I have the Philips Respironics System One Auto CPAP and Humidifier machine and I have a nasal mask and a full face mask. I went and saw my ENT doctor last year and he fixed my nasal passages and then removed my tonsils and reshaped my uvula and that fixed my sleep apena... Well worth the pain and suffering from the surgery...
  19. White swim jig with a paddle tail trailer...

  21. There is no wrong swim jig trailer....
  22. Wife started calling me that many years ago...lol She says I have a swim jig fetish...lol
  23. Swim Jig Jig Spinner Bait Swim Jig Swim Jig
  24. I use North Star Baits Original Swim Jig and their Flip & Swim Jig...
