  1. My personal preference is a Daiwa MH/R action rod for spinner baits and a Daiwa MH/F or MH/XF rod for jigs and T-Rigs...
  2. North Star Baits does...
  3. As everyone has pointed out there is no correct or wrong answer to this...for me I will use a spinner bait, swim jig and either a lipless or square bill crank bait...
  4. I fish North Star Baits Original Swim Jig in 5/16oz and their Flip-N-Swim Jig in 3/8oz, for colors I keep it pretty simple, White, Black and Blue and New Gill...There are a couple other colors but these are the main colors. For trailers you can't go wrong with any of them on the market, I personally prefer Reaction Innovations Skinny Dipper as my main trailer for all my swim jigs. But I will use single tail grubs, dual tail grubs, creature baits etc... I will use a swim jig basically anywhere and will work it like a regular jig or spinner bait and everything in between. Honestly they are just a great producing bait and it is really hard to find a time or place that they will not work...
  5. An absolutely amazing swim jig rod and spinner bait rod, I have 2 of these in my arsenal. I have fished this rod in medium to heavy cover including lily pads with no problems.
  6. I really like the North Star Baits Black Football jigs, for colors I keep it simple, Black & Blue, PBJ and Black and Brown...
  7. I use a Daiwa Tatula Type-R in 8.1:1 ratio which is an IPT of 33.9 inches with a full spool of line and then I just adjust my retrieve rate. But I would try and find out what the IPT is for the reel you are using, the spool size and how much line is on the spool can make a difference with the IPT.
  8. The SS SV103 or the SV103 reels would handle those baits nicely.
  9. I really like Reaction Innovations Skinny Dipper, but I have a ton of trailers I will use from all different companies and all different styles, there is just no one best trailer...
  10. I would use swim jigs and frogs...
  11. Black and Blue PB&J Brown and Orange Should cover pretty much everything, just remember with jigs to KEEP IT SIMPLE!!
  12. Just leave everything but spinnerbaits at home and go fishing...
  13. I have fished both and prefer the Tatula reels but then again I am a Dawia person...but I also don't think the T-Wing is all it is proclaimed to be.
  14. I always have one of each tied on at all times and will fish them both. My personal best last year was on a spinner bait but I definitely caught a lot more fish on a swim jig. Funny thing is where I caught my personal best at I had been throwing my swim jig at for about 6 or 7 casts and nothing then on the 1st cast with the spinner bait she hit it like a freight train...lol
  15. I use a 5/16oz Original Swim Jig and a 3/8oz Flippin Jig from North Star Baits...
  16. If I am fishing heavy vegetation and timber I will use straight braid and if I am fishing around rocks I will switch to fluorocarbon. But I do not like to use a leader at all and I know a lot of people do like to use a leader but I just personally prefer not to. So you definitely can use 50lbs braid for frog and jig fishing and I wouldn't worry about abrasion resistance unless you are fishing around a lot of rocks.
  17. I don't believe I would go with 8lbs fluorocarbon on a bait casting reel, especially the Zillion. I would step up to 10lbs fluorocarbon. Definitely use some KVD Line and Lure conditioner on the line...
  18. North Star Baits Original Swim Jig in 5/16oz with a Reaction Innovations Skinny Dipper North Star Baits Knock Out Flipping Jig in 3/8oz a Rage Tail Craw North Star Baits Hair Jig in 3/8oz with a Rage Tail Baby Craw
  19. There really is no wrong way to fish a swim jig. I fish them anywhere and anytime, clear water, dingy water etc...in the grass, open water, etc...as for retrieve I mainly use a nice steady retrieve, but I will speed up and slow down, I will give it a pop occasionally and have been known to let it fall to the bottom and fish like a normal jig and then go back to my retrieve. Just experiment and you will find what works well for you. I prefer the Reaction Innovations Skinny Dipper for a trailer, but will also use single tail and dual tail grubs as well. I also use a 5/16oz swim jig from North Star Baits. For equipment I use a 7' 2" MH/R action Daiwa Tatula rod and a Tatula Type-R high speed reel with 10lbs fluorocarbon line. But honestly you can't go wrong with a swim jig, they are a great producing bait and you can fish them anywhere and anytime...
  20. I do not use a leader at all with braid. If I am fishing clearer water with little cover then I will just use fluorocarbon or a copolymer line...
  21. I really like the Owner Twistlock Light hooks for my Senko baits...
  22. I have not used the Daiwa Tatula XT Frogging Rod but I do have and love the Tatula Frog Rod...and I absolutely love this rod for fishing frogs, plenty of backbone for getting the fish out of heavy cover and no problems setting the hook...
  23. My favorites are the ones I got from Bluebasser86...I am currently waiting patiently for North Star Baits to release their bladed jigs The Twerk... I love to use Reaction Innovations Skinny Dippers for my trailers...
  24. There are so many great creature baits... I have lots of different creature baits in my tackle at all times and don't have a particular favorite one. But the one I still tend to use the most is a Yamamoto Flappin Hog...
