Line For DropShotting
I like the Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #6 green. It's easy to see above the water line and it disappears in the water. Try it, you will like it. Ronnie

3rd Annual BassResource.com Roadtrip!!!
Jimzee, We will likely arrive kind of late on Saturday. We are making the whole trip on Saturday and we have an invite to Riskid's place for dinner along the way. He makes a meal too good to pass up if we can work it out. You hear that Carl??? It looks like it's just me & Wayne. Ronnie Ronnie

How do you put uncle joshes trailers on?
Uncle josh usually punches a hole in the bait to slide your hook through, but I have noticed lately that a lot of bottles have come without being punched. I don't know if it's a quality control issue or they just don't do it any more. Use a pointed x-acto knife to cut a hole or use a big finishing nail over a piece of wood with a hammer and pre-punch the baits for your hooks. That's what I do. I hope this helps. Ronnie

What's your go-to line brand?
I use power pro for most of my fishing, but the Yo-Zuri Ultra Soft is getting more action all the time. I like Vanish for flouro leaders. Ronnie

Favorite rod brand??
Mine are all customs except one. Built them myself. 7 are G. Loomis and 5 are Lamiglas. Love Loomis & Lamiglas. Ronnie

Great lure.........for some.
For me it's crankbaits. Jigs & plastics are my go to baits. I have even caught quite a few fish on floating treble hook lures. I do well with floating Rapalas, Jitterbugs, Hula Poppers, Spooks & Sammys, but if it sinks, so do I. I have only caught 1 bass on a crankbait with a bill that runs below the surface. I have a box filled with Rapala DTs, Manns -, and LC Pointers, but I'm darned if I can catch a fish with one. Good idea for a thread, no matter how embarassing. LOL Ronnie

Poll question for right or left hand fishing
I have participated in this right/left hand baitcasting discussion many times before. Most guys who cast with their right hand and use right handed reels can shift the rod to their left hand before the bait hits the water. I know I can. Even the guys who cast right handed and crank left handed reels will usually shift the rod/reel down in their grip so they can palm the reel. This take no less time or energy that shifting them to the other hand. In 40+ years of fishing with a baitcaster I have never once missed a hookset due to changing hands. JMHE Ronnie

Why do you fish is the first place?
I think of fishing as a healthy escape from the pressures of life. Also it helps me to connect with others, especially younger guys who don't understand why I'm not hip to video games. LOL At last, even when I don't mean to, I get caught up in the challenge. Just one more cast, I know it's raining and the wind is blowing but there is certainly a bass under that there log. It's kind of like gambling, it pays off just enough to keep you coming back. I love it! Ronnie

Daddy like...daddy like a lot!!
I have a Stella 1000FB with similar specs. I use it on a GLX DSR820 droposhot rod for dropshotting and shakey head fishing. I like it so much because I know that if a 5lb+ bass takes my bait, I can still get him in the boat. JMHO Ronnie

Tying leader to braid question
Opposing nail knots are stronger and more reliable than all others. Especially when line & leader are different diameters. They can't slip and the line & leader will nearly always fail before the knot. No body (except me) likes to use them because they are very hard to tie. I use a knot tying tool and it's still a bear to tie, but there is no stronger way to join leader to a line. JMHO Ronnie

I don't know how flukemaster got bounced from the list, (Glen can edit the site also ) but he is back on and Mass Hole Mike is just the last to sign up. Please remember if you sign up on this thread it may take a day or two to get the website updated. I also included a link to "On Line Fishing Licenses" on the "Look Who's Coming" page. OK, now all you whiners are on the list. ;D The rest of you slackers need to get signed up also. "08 NO EXCUSES!" Ronnie

Little Boats, Big Fish Club
It just barely makes the 16' or less as it is 16' on the nose. Don't let this one fool you. It's got a excellent livewell system lots of underdeck storage and it is a fishing machine. Ronnie
