River Fishing: Confusion??
Hey, my aunt and uncle live within a short drive of the Kankakee. I can ask my uncle what he usually fishes when he is there. By the way, welcome!

12 gauge v Snapping Turtle
John, you don't need to provide an explanation for killing the turtle, at least not for me. If I believed nuisance "snappers" were in my pond and killing bass and baitfish, I would have done the same thing, and so would 90% of the people who live around me.

12 gauge v Snapping Turtle
John, glad we see eye to eye on things as well. Burley, your dog would catch and eat snapping turtles? How did he avoid getting bit when he went after them?

12 gauge v Snapping Turtle
How are snapping turtles good for bass, if you say they never eat any smaller bass or baitfish? The only way I could see snapping turtles being good for bass is if they ate some of the smaller bass, therefore reducing the overall population and making the remaining bass larger. However, you say they don't do that though... :-?

12 gauge v Snapping Turtle
Good Job!!! Regardless of what is said, adult snapping turtles are a nuisance, and they kill baitfish as well as small ducks, and duck eggs. I used to fish a pond that was owned by a man who told me to kill any snapping turtles I see or catch. There were at least three I knew of that lived there, and they wreaked havoc on his pond. They killed several small ducks, and ate the eggs that the ducks would lay on the bank. They also ate several of the baitfish, and I know they would go after the bass. Fishing there became more of a chore than fun, because if I fished with any kind of live bait, those turtles would go after it and snap through the line, or I'd have to drag them to shore. I did kill one, but several of them escaped. Snapping turtles can be a nuisance, and they can ruin a pond if introduced improperly or if they find their way in.

Any ameteur meteoroligists out there?
Avid, you need a weather rock. Weather rocks are very cheap (usually can be found in your driveway) and can be placed anywhere outside. 1. Find a medium sized rock 2. Place it within viewing area of your house 3. Observe and use the following guidelines: a dry rock means fair weather. a wet rock means it's raining. a dusty rock means a dust storm. a swaying rock means it's windy. a shadow under the rock means it's sunny. a white rock means it's snowing. if the rock is jumping up and down, an earthquake is upon us. if the bottom of the rock is under water it's a flood if the rock is gone, it's a tornado. Thus, you have the weather from a true West Virginian.

BEST AND WORST LURES FOR DIFFERENT CONDITIONS
Try using the buzzbait in the morning and evening hours, and during the day, try fishing deeper with a spinnerbait, and use some soft plastics around cover, such as lillypads and downed logs.

A Piranha in North Carolina????
I don't think it was, because they said it put a dent in this guy's knife. Pacu's teeth wouldn't be that powerful, I wouldn't think.

Is this Official?
Of course, if you don't ask for the books and they send them to you anyway, you don't have to send them back. Anything sent to you in the mail without being requested does not have to be returned. Sure, they'll hound you to death to send them back, but technically, you don't have to.

A Week of Bluegrass and Fishing - Pics
Thanks guys. Jimzee, you may be able to still float it, I think more rain is on the way. Several people I know are going, and from what I was able to gather, they have received normal rainfall, unlike down here in Charleston. I hear more rain is on the way. Oh, we found out when we got back some severe storms had hit. When we got back, we found this in our yard.
