The Annual What You Got For Christmas Thread
My car will be getting fixed as part of my gift. I got a phone, Sriracha shirt, sling pack, fire starter, $50 BPS gift card, and Reese's minis.

Should I put braid or mono on my Baitcaster
Braid is easier to cast, but more expensive and more difficult to get a backlash out of. If you're not hurting for money, go for braid. If you cringe at $20 for 200 yards of line, get Berkley Big Game.

What’s the lightest braid I can spool on baitcast reel?
I've used 20lbs pretty extensively with no issues. Just bump it up until you find what works best for you. It costs money, but you also won't know what achieves your needs without trying different things. I've had a lot of guys tell me that they won't use anything less than 50lbs, but I tried it and didn't care for it.

Who do you eat ?
I'm not picky when it comes to fish. I'll eat pretty much any kind of cooked meat.

Try As I Might, Never Have I Ever Caught A Bass On A ___ .
I'll have to give it a try. I always assumed that it was just a vertical technique that wouldn't do any good for bank fisherman.

Favorite condiment for fried fish...
Lemon juice and hot sauce is all I need. Gotta have some type of alcohol to help wash it down.

Try As I Might, Never Have I Ever Caught A Bass On A ___ .
Can't really think of many. As previously mentioned, beetle spin and Whopper Plopper. Drop shot is another, but I thought that was more of a vertical tactic which isn't used much by bank burners, like myself. Other than that, I think I've caught fish on pretty much everything I've thrown. Not that I have much variety.

The official "Who's drinking tonight?" thread
I guess I need more Miller. I can't even catch a one pound bass. I did catch about a one pound skipjack earlier, though.

Best Reel for 125$
In simple terms, a lower moment of inertia means you can exert less force and get the same distance as a higher moment of inertia spool. Think Ferrari 488 vs. an old school, cross plane V8. To answer the question on the post, you can't go wrong with either reel. Shimano makes a better reel, in my opinion. I feel like this is casting distance vs. feel. From my experience, the TW system and braking system in the Daiwa gives it an advantage when casting, but Shimano typically makes a smoother, more quality reel. This is my experience with a Curado 200K and Tatula 150, though. Take that with a grain of salt. I have no experience with either the CT or SLX.

Then and Now
Not much. I went from power fishing to more finesse techniques. I'm still terrible at reading the conditions and the fish, though. I also feel like I'm less about the fishing and more so just relaxing and enjoying using my gear. Other than that, I'm pretty much the same angler I've always been.

Fishmas 2020
I'm hoping to start mechanical engineering school soon. If I can get that going for me, and have a job to pay my bills, I'll be set.

Fishmas 2020
I wish I could afford to pay it forward. Lol unfortunately, little job experience at nearly 26 makes getting a job difficult.

Our memories using lures
Our hobbies are always more than they seem to be. Even if we love the hobby, the time we spend with loved ones doing what we love are the memories we cherish. Inanimate objects can and may change hands until the end of time, but memories stay with us.

We haven't done this for a while
I was a major Slipknot fan for a long time. I was also into LaVeyan satanism. I've gone more to the country/folk side now, and I'm back to just being a regular atheist. I don't really see a point in changing my name, though. I'm not very good at coming up with original usernames.

Reel size for Ned rig...
I feel the 1000 is plenty sufficient for bass. Then again, I've never caught a big bass, either. The only reason I'd even consider a 2500 for bass is purely so I wouldn't get spooled if I hooked into something of decent size.

Abu VS. Lew's
I was a big fan of Lew's until recently. It seems like they're putting out an inferior product for a higher price now. Abu is kind of your average to below average for price. Nothing special, but they work. If I had to pick, when it comes to low profile reels, I'd go Lew's. Although, they've burned me out with these $160 graphite framed reels.

Think you are smarter than us older generation people?
Nope. I'm just a dumb redneck millenial.

The official "Who's drinking tonight?" thread
Typically, I drink Angry Orchard or Strawberitas. I'll have a Jack and Coke or tequila and Coke pretty often, too. I'm not too keen on anything too fancy unless I go to a restaurant that has a substantial variety. I keel things pretty simple when it comes to alcohol.

Been bass fishing 3 years. Not a single bass. Looking for some help from northwest indiana
When all else fails, Ned rig on light line. If that doesn't work for you, then start junk fishing. throw every lure possible at every square foot you can reach. With your finesse applications, fish as slow as you can stand. Let the lure sit on the bottom for 10+ seconds. Some people may think that's a bit ridiculous, but it's gotten me bites before.

New to North Alabama
For bass, Guntersville is hard to beat. For catfish, there are some guides on Wheeler that catch some massive blues and flatties.

- OCD and braided line
I'm not a big braid fan. I have constant issues when I use it. I try to give it a shot every few months or so, but every time, I'm reminded why I always throw it away. Whether it be it digging in, trying to knot itself, knot strength, etc.- Hindsight - Would you have done anything differently this season?
I would have fished the river and creeks more instead of pond hopping in private areas. I didn't catch a single bass this year (other than stripe) that wasn't out of a pond, and I only caught one catfish that wasnt. Also wish would have done more bass fishing in general. Most of the time I went to the river or creeks, I was chasing catfish. Although, I can say there's one thing I'm proud of. I've fished more with a spinning reel this year than I probably have in all my years combined. I've been almost exclusively a BC guy from 17 years old until now. I'm finally getting comfortable with using spinning reels.- Scent additives.... Waste of money or worth it??
I don't buy into it. I've actually had a negative effect with it for the most part. I can be catching fish back to back, put scent on, and I don't get another bite. That's not to say that I don't catch fish when I do scent it, but more often than not, if I'm not catching them without scent, I don't catch them with it, either.- 20 lb vs. 30 lb Braid for Baitcaster
Honestly, I'd drop it down to 10 or 15. I like the smallest diameter I can get away with. I use 20 pound as general purpose bass fishing. The only reason I'm going to go 65 on my Ambassadeur is because it will be used for catfish, too. - OCD and braided line
