  1. My COVID-19 boredom purchases. Metanium MGL B and a Dobyns Extreme 704c.
  2. It's been a good spring so far.
  3. Just a heads up, getting anything from Japan right now is next to impossible. Lots of anglers have reported that they've been waiting weeks for things that are stuck in customs. My advice is spend the extra money and buy from an American shop so you can use it right away.
  4. Event starts June 10th. Get your picks in boys!
  5. PM me the address to this pond. I'll take care of that walleye problem for you
  6. Put away the buzzbaits and pick up a spinnerbait.
  7. Funny you mention that. I have a 270WSM that loves those 140g Berger's as well.
  8. I've bought two new 700's in the past six months, both were cheaper ADL's, for basically the sole purpose up upgrading into a better rifle like you are doing. Both of them have the new X-Pro trigger. However, both of them had factory pulls around 6 to 6.5 pounds and they aren't externally adjustable. So in my eyes, if I'm taking the action screws off to adjust a trigger, I'd rather just slap a nice Timney on there and call it good. Now both of them have Timney's with a 2-2.25 pound pull. Now I have an older Classic that dates to 1982 according the serial, and that factory trigger breaks at 3-3.25 pounds and feels very nice on the pull. Certainly a better trigger in my eyes than what the two ADL's I bought were from the factory with the X-Pro.
  9. I suppose some of the newer 700's are worse than the others. This winter I bought a stainless ADL 243 on clearance from Dicks whenever they were completely getting out of the gun business. I put a new wood CDL stock on it, the magazine conversion kit, and a Timney trigger in it. Needless to say, she's a tack driver, even with cheap Core Locks.
  10. Fixed that for you
  11. Are you asking how to become a fishing dealer/retailer? If so, get a business license and open up dealer accounts with whatever company you so choose.
  12. The best advice I can give for jig fishing is try to keep your bait on a tight line as much as possible. That will help you feel any bites as soon as they happen. Once the bait hits the bottom and you start dragging, try to reel up your line at the same rate that your rod tip is moving your bait. Keep experimenting with it and you'll get it down in no time. It just takes catching a few fish doing it to gain confidence in it.
  13. My father had a smallmouth mounted back in 1999. He went to pick it up and it was green with stripes, almost like a giant perch. He refused it and made the taxidermist repaint it. It looked the same, but was dull brown instead. He took it and paid for it, being very unhappy with it. After about a year of looking at it on the wall, he took it to another taxidermist and had them repaint it. It still looked terrible. I've since always looked at others work and noticed almost the same pattern. One of my best friends little brother has been doing taxidermy, and even his work on smallmouths leaves a lot to be desired.
  14. Seems no different than Sniper or Pline Tactical. For the record, neither of those lines have ever given me memory issues on casting or spinning reels.
  15. Those are the best looking smallmouth mounts I have ever seen. The colors and lines are perfect. I've seen so many smallmouth mounts that all look either turd brown or a washed out green that I've always said that I'm never going to get a smallmouth mounted. Very impressive!
  16. Location, location, location.
  17. Great review. I found my Elite to perform the same way. It bombs lures at 70-80% power. Any more than that and it can blow up on me. I posted my review back in the fall, if you'd like to take a look.
  18. @jkoz88 Here's one I did for a walleye. Those are 5x7 pictures, but you can get as big of a frame and pictures as you want.
  19. If they're like the Elite Long Cast models that came out last summer, then they're great little reels. No problems to report here.
  20. This is how I teach myself new techniques and gain confidence in certain techniques. I highly recommend anyone doing this. It helps if you have a local pond with some fish that are easier to catch, if you are trying to gain confidence or learn something completely new.
  21. Here's another idea for you and it's what I do in my house. I'm not a huge fan of mounts, and my wife certainly isn't a fan of hanging dead animals on our walls. I always take a few good photo's with the fish and then release it. So what I do is get a shadow box style picture frame. Then I put the pictures up in the frame, as well as hand the lure up inside the box. It's a nice way to show off the catch of a lifetime. I can show you an example from my house if you're interested in what I'm talking about.
  22. The 734 is the do it all rod. In my opinion, it is THE BEST do everything rod out there. Jigs, spinnerbaits, Keitech's, texas rigs, rattle traps, buzzbaits, chatterbaits, swim jigs. I can't recommend that rod enough for that. The 744 is the extra fast action version of the 734, so expect a different action out of it. It's going to have the same power, but more suited for jigs and texas rigs. Good for open water and light/moderate cover fishing. The 745 is going to give you more power for heavy brush and vegetation. Lots of backbone for horsing big fish out of places where you could get in trouble with lighter setups. Hopefully this helps. Choose the one that best fill your needs best.
  23. Wait until after it's over because you aren't going to be able to host a fair and honest event right now.
  24. What weight baits and what cover are you going to be fishing around? I have the Extreme 745 and the Champion 734 (and my fishing partner has the Champion 744) so I've got some experience with these rods.
  25. Define "deeper"? DT14? 10XD? Big difference.
