IMO the veritas I love them. The ghost and maxim are nice also. Remeber hearing the ghost would turn yellow after a while don't know if they fixed that. I've handled them all and fished the veritas, the veritas and maxim feels the best and looks to be made better to me.

Get a pflueger president and veritas 2.0 $150 for a heck of a combo. Spend the rest on quality line and lures. The 2.0 is a whole different Rod from the rest version abu messed and and they fixed it. you can not beat a pflueger president im telling you I've never seen no one diasappointed with one. Will the 2.0 be as good as a $200 Rod? No but trust me no Rod will will feel $100 better. Pretty much any of the $100 rods today with a quality line is all anyone needs. I've heard since kanssas gives so many non resident tags now it's went downhill a little with the huntibg pressure. Is that true? We have a big deer here in eastern ky really big deer, we just want a change of landscape. But since we are going to go through the trouble and spend the money we want to go somewhere known for big deer not just any place.

Me and my buddies are looking to take a trip to Iowa, Kansas, Illinois or somewhere like that and public land. We just want to be able to see a lot of deer and a few decent deer it don't have to be a 150"+ to make us happy. We are tired of hunting the hills of eastern ky and want to expierence somethibg else. What state would you go to and what area? I know Iowa can be hard to get tags.

Do just like you would in the ponds you fished. Find cover and fish it throughly with a few different types of lures. Since you won't be able to cover a ton of water really dissect the cover you have in front of you. Fishing from the bank really forces you to slow down, and that's a good thing.
