catch and release...
I would guess its because of the number of bass anglers and tournaments. If everyone kept there bass like early tournaments did the population would rapidly die off.

Oldies but goodies
After watcing "Bass In Heavy Cover" and "Surface Lures and Buzzbaits" I wasn't as impressed as I was from the other three. If I were to buy them again I wouldn't buy the two unless it was the same price or cheaper to have the entire collection."Bass In Heavy Cover" and "Surface Lures and Buzzbaits" just didn't seem all that great to me.

Fishing videos on DVD
Bass Pro has some good videos one is Kevin Vandams Strategies for Changing Conditions or something like that. I would do everything possible to find a vhs to watch the Glen Lau Bigmouth videos.

Biggest of the year?
Around 6 pounds, ate a 5/16 ounce Missourri Craw Eakins Jig with. That was way back in the spring, and the picture is still on my camera waiting to be developed.

Oldies but goodies
Yep, but I have only had enough time to watch "Bigmouth", "Bigmouth Forever", and "Feeding Habits of Bass". Hopefully this weekend between fishing and work I can watch the others and start all over again.

Oldies but goodies
Just watched that, and it was great. Al Linder is still the same "Nice fish, now thats a nice fish", and then Rick Clunn falling in lol. Fishing with those old spinning rods and reels that click when you reel them in shows how far the fishing world has advanced. I couldn't believe how many times they each smacked the dock they were fishing.

What would you do if.......
I would first make sure its secured in a net, trap, cooler, or if I had to a stringer. Like ablefisher said look for a witness, and take some pictures. Then I would call some kind of authority to verify the fish and to take to some certified scales. After that more pictures and a safe release.

Soft Plastic Hand Pourers
I use a pyrex measuring cup and microwave, you should be able to get a big enough measuring cup at Wal-Mart.

Are fishing piers useless?
Fishing piers can be lots of fun and can sometimes have lots of fishing pressure, here are some things you can do to get the fish to bite. 1) Try fishing what others are not, wacky worm and drop shot are both good choices since most fisherman don't fish them yet. 2) Go down, finnesse worms and smaller diameter line 3) Slow down your presentation 4) Don't be afraid to pitch, flip, and cast into the nastiest cover availible 5) Quiet presentations

Bandit crankbaits?
I like all the Bandit crankbaits except for the foot loose series, I would rather throw a Manns Baby 1 Minus.

Opinion Needed on First Boat
You will probably also want to get a trolling motor. For a handheld you can find them for as little as $100 or you can use a foot control which can be a little expensive, $250+.

Oldies but goodies
I thought the Bigmouth was $19.95, Bigmouth Forever $29.95, and feeding habits for $19.95. Then it would be the same as the whole collection, or did I get the wrong prices?

One Thing That Makes You Better
I have a local lake where I fish every new technique and trick until I have confidence in them all, still working on jigging a spoon. With lots of practice I am also a great caster with baitcasters and spinning gear.

releasing gut hooked fish
In-fisherman had a technique similair to that one, and it works great.

Oldies but goodies

low water smallies??
Look for the smallmouth to be tucked on the backside of rocks and boulders where they can get out of the current. Also look for some big cracks or rocks that are close togethor for the fish to slide into. Also without the rain look for some deeper holes and fish them throughout the day.

Small pond/Lake tips
I would also try some flukes, they are a great weedless bait and bass can't resist them.

Finding Fishing Holes
And if you do get permission to fish the pond its always good to give them a little gift to make sure you can go back again. Don't go overboard with the gift, some cookies or pie would be good.

Craink bait retrieve
If I am fishing in an area that doesn't have much to delfect the bait off or if my bait runs to shallow to delfect of any kind of structure then I give mine a twitch now and then during the retrieve to throw the pattern off for a split second.
