  1. I did a demonstration for speech class on flipping and pitching. I went through when to use each technique, rods, reels, line, and tackle. It was good and you can keep the audience awake by dropping a jig on there desk.
  2. Like others have said start small and work up in tournaments. Always play with those better than you to make yourself better, but don't fish big tournaments to fast. Start out in a small club, if you get Angler Of Year move up to the BFL, is you can consistently make the top 25 in a year you are ready for the Stren Series. Once you can consistently place in the top 25 then you know you're ready for the highest level.
  3. How about some topwater. If not that I would try some finnesse worms on spinning gear.

I left one in my car window all summer, it expanded a little bit. I haven't noticed any results. :-/
  5. What lake is it? By the way find any old lures in those brush piles ?
  6. Cast upriver if you can. Look for stumps, trees, or rocks to make current breaks that the fish can live behind. Know the tide, fish move with it. If you are in a boat be careful at low tide there will be some rocks you never seen.
  7. How was Randy? He wrote his website down on Ikes overhead sheets for the Kansas City shows ;D. I agree the pros didn't have enough time. Sounds like you had a blast though.
  8. Here are some jigs I have made
  9. When the fish are schooling usually fish of the same size will hangout, thats why the pros will stick some fish to be sure some big fish are in the area. When they are chasing shad the small bass are usually on top while the bigger fish are below them eating the injured shad.
  10. Wow, let me tell you I had the greatest fishing expirence at Bassmaster University! I arrived friday night at midnight, just to get up at 5:45 to head to Bassmaster University, which was alright. First speaker was Mark Davis, there were not a whole lot of people maximum of 200 so I was fairly close, and to listend to the speakers was just awesome. After Mark came Randy Howell. Randy was fantastic, he went on floating worms and was very active with some humor built in. After Randy came Ike, who did some finnesse fishing who was also great getting excited and climbing around the stage. I can't say I learned a tone from any pro, but I would learn little tips and tricks from them all. After lunch I watched Randy Howell and Mark Davis, but missed Ikes. Instead of watching Ike I took Mark Davis and Randy Howell to the airport, just them two and then a friend of mine. It was awesome I sat in the back with Randy, and for 30 minutes we could talk to them 1 on 1. I also got a picture with them both! Although I missed Ikes, he went with the KS Federation and I out to eat supper at KC Masterpiece in a private room. Ike was directly across from at a little round table. So I then had 1.5 hours with Ike and some pictures. That man is small (well compared to me). Then today, Sunday came, KVD was going to the Super Bowl so we started at 7:00 and KVD did the first 2 sessions back to back. I got him to autograph the 05 Classic dvd for me, but then I skipped his seminars to go pick up Shaw Grigsby and Rich Tauber. I then got to talk to both them for a 30 minute drive, also to cool. When I went I told myself I would not buy lures, well the baitmonkey got me. All the lures I bought were the last ones of there brand. I got a Lucky Craft Sammy 100 for $9, 2 Bagley Killer B2's for $5 apiece, 2 Bagley Balsa B's for $5 apiece, and then 2 packages of camo finnesse worms. So some great prices. I was very suprised with Ike over dinner. During the presentations he would jump around and did a great job of explaining and even had some yelling. When he was in a smaller private room he is actually calm. He didn't do anything that a normal fisherman would do. When he was asked about being the #6 most hated atheletes he didn't seem to hate it or love it although he thought it was a great thing for the sport of fishing bringing it out. He brought up a good point then with ESPN. He really wants ESPN and BASS to get things going right, if ESPN doesn't get the tournament fishing who can, the only other options would be ABC. My favorite speaker would of been Rich Tauber, who isn't known real good. Instead of going for the win he shoots for the top using finnesse to get the regular paycheck. Eventually he will win, and I think if he can win the Classic then he might try going for bigger fish and winning. He was great for sharing his knowledge with tricks with the public although he promoted his sponsors alot. He told you simply "go buy a loomis drop shot, go buy tungsten weights, go buy my drop shot baits." If you have the chance to attend one of these seminars go to it it's great! Shaw, Rich, with me Ike with me (he is a little guy) Mark, Randy, with me
  11. I did best this year with the x-rap and swimming a jig. When the bass are chasing the shad you have to use a lure that is similair in size as the shad.
  12. Does anyone know of some peddling kayaks besides Hobie? I don't want a hand controlled trolling motor, because it would require one hand to run it, and I really don't want to paddle. I looked at the Hobie fishing kayaks and they look great, but even the used ones cost over $1,000.
  13. Oh, thats on the other side of town. See you at Bassmaster U maybe, I am 6'4" and will be wearing either a bright blue jacket with a fish on the back or a tan tournament joursey.
  14. Yep thats the one! I am splitting rides with some other guys so I don't think I will drag any fishing gear over. Hopefully I will see you there. CGS2004, whats your Kansas City adress? My grandma lives in Kansas City so maybe some other time we could go fishing depending on distance. Will
  15. WOW, I JUST GOT SOME GREAT NEWS. I KNOW THE KS FEDERATION PRESIDENT REAL GOOD AND WILL BE AT BASSMASTER UNIVERSITY WITH HIM. THE BIG NEWS IS THAT HE WILL HAVE ME HELPING HIM DRIVE THE SPEAKERS AROUND LIKE TAKING OR PICKING UP KVD AND IKE FROM THE AIRPORT!!! HOW COOL IS THIS?
  16. I found balsa wood in the hobby stores.

You can buy alot of supplies from www.staminainc.com .
  18. Man, for me that would be less than normal during the spring/summer/fall months.
  19. Anyone going to Bassmaster University and haven't enrolled yet? I was checking the BASS website about the University information, and there is a discount. Mention the promo code FISH2 and you can be enrolled for only $99! Man, am I glad I haven't enrolled yet.
  20. LOL, to much free time ;D . Found the pictures on the internet.
  21. Here are a couple ideas. This one would be fairly simple. Put some concrete in a 5 gallon bucket and then stick some pipe in it, let it dry and drop it down. If it lands on its side, oh well, fish will still stay at it. I am not sure how the pipe is connected, but a triangle shape would be good especially after the top gets some algae growing on it. If you really want to do some work, here is a pvc in the shape of a box with piping all around the edges. There are lots of them out there, just what you want to build. Good Luck!
  22. I agree, for now you are little to young to get the sponsors but you can do alot in High School to make a great resume. Here are some of the items I can think of. 1. Student Council, I am not sure if that is what its called at your school, but it shows leadership. 2. Scouts, FFA or 4-H, all these are great programs if you hold an office, even better. 3. Go into Debate and Forensics. It will show you can speak in front of people and you can persuade them even on topics you don't agree with. I started doig Debate and Forensics when I was a Junior in High School, I was never any good but it helped me alot. I wish I would of done them at least 3 years now.
  23. I agree with ghoti, a little thinking, creativity, and pvc pipe and you could have yourself a good little piece of cover.
  24. Are you talking about public land, private land someone else owns, or your own land? I don't hunt much, but I did try fishing when my dad, brothers, and cousin went dove hunting. Man, I was whacking the fish but shot was hitting the water and mud all around me. I tried fishing under a tree and a dirt wall bank that was 6' straight up, and still the pellets were getting to close. No sense in getting myself peppered or even the possibility of my rod getting struck by some pellets, last time I try fishing around hunters.
  25. I used to get Bassin but it seemed I never got all the magazines so I stopped ordering it, and now I get Bassmaster and BASS Times. Bassmaster is better for fishing tips, rigs, and presentations while BASS Times has alot to do with the enviroment. They also have the same tournaments posted in each.
