  1. As a kid I was told you could only catch the big ones from a boat. Sure, a boat helps but it's not mandatory.
  2. Those jointed rapala minnows, I don't get why but that dog won't hunt. At least I got them on sale.
  3. The last time I was in Wal Mart I picked up a white 1/8th oz z man chatterbait. It was in the dollar bin so what the heck. It's been the only bait producing for me in the ponds I fish. There are better ones out there though so I've upgraded, but the bladed jig/chatterbait is definitely in my game plan now. Great tips by bluebasser also, I'll be setting the hook a little quicker from now on.
  4. A smaller sized jig like a bitsy flip or baby boo could be the way to go for checking out those rocks and logs and other spots like that. You might lose one or two, but that's what it takes sometimes. However With the lighter sizes and a chunky trailer I feel like they are a little more snag proof. I've been using these jigs to learn with this year and it's been paying off great. Also reading the jig thread that's pinned up top is a great way to spend some free time, there's some great info in there.
  5. Dang I wish I had a lake with green and brown bass in it. Looks likes it was worth dealing with the rain and cold for sure.
  6. Stumps and or rock piles along a steep sun warmed bank.
  7. Great fish way to catch 'em!
  8. Man, one thing after another. Hopefully you won't end up as a greeter in Wal-Mart. If comes down to it at least try sporting goods first.
  9. Biffle bug Jr Yum boogee tail (it's a spinnerbait trailer but works great on a jig as well)
  10. Worm-zoom Ol monster Creature- large biffle bug Jerkbait-zoom super fluke Spinnerbait-chatterbait Crankbait-koppers bluegill Lipless crankbait- rat l trap Popper- rebel pop r Walker-spook Jr.
  11. I still throw a Zoom Ol Monster in the winter months when I'm using a c-rig on the bottom of the pond, or veeery slowly swimming it over deep weeds at the bottom of a steep bank. I figure the thumping action of the tail still works well, and even if it gets bogged down in the weeds there is still some of the worm sticking out above the weeds. When I swim it I use a keel weighted hook like you would use for a fluke and just try to hit the top of the weeds or brush or whatever. Granted I live in south Carolina so winter here is like spring in the places it really gets cold.
  12. Have you guys checked out Amazon yet? I think they have a bunch of booyah stuff on there.
  13. While we are waiting to hear who was in the front of the boat here's my 2 cents. I've tried to learn both and the chatterbait has been catchin 'em and the swimjigs are not. Not giving up on the swimjigs yet but the chatterbait has impressed me to the point where I always have one tied on. Even with the front over thanksgiving the chatterbait still produced, in deep grass and also around some standing trees and brush.
  14. Dang I better stock up, those little jigs kill it for for me all year, they are perfect for fishing cover with a spinning reel. Thanks for the heads up. Me and the bait monkey got a date for Wal-Mart
  15. Haha I gotta agree with Weld's on this one, biting off a piece of berkeley chigger craw to use as a jig trailer is nasty. But the jig usually gets thumped in the first few casts.
  16. I've been looking forward to adding one of these to the line up for awhile, they look like they would be good for some inshore stuff as well.
  17. Thoughts and prayers to everyone concerned thank God the helicopter got there in time.
  18. My first red, a 43 incher out of the mosquito lagoon. My buddy was out cast netting more mullet and when his drag took off I was closest, totally lucky and awesome. The crazy thing was a even bigger one followed him to the surface but wouldn't take the spook my buddy threw at him. Man I get stoked just replaying that trip in my mind, even the part where we got eaten alive by mosquitoes once the wind died down. Totally worth it though.
  19. Either a weightless green pumpkin yum dinger, or baby bass Senko both in the 4" model.
  20. Hmmmm do you think the ghosts bass fish? Is there fishing in the afterlife?
  21. Wow forget Mexico maybe I should just go to Toledo bend this winter and fish the marsh for reds and spend some time in NOLA.
