  1. East or west coast?
  2. Thank you! That’s all great information! I just wanted to clarify my question wasn’t meant to be solely about bed fishing. In any case, it seems the beds I can see are all empty. Even after I’ve been sitting around for a bit. Do you think they might be done spawning by now?
  3. I have another question for my fellow South Floridians and particularly @Mike L I fish a natural “lake” here in southwest Florida that has largemouth and peacock bass as well as the other usual local species. The water is usually very stained/silty and there’s lots of submerged vegetation. For whatever reason, the lake is extremely clear right now and vegetation is sparse. I’m seeing dozens and dozens of beds right now. It’s bank access only, so I can’t tell what fish are on the beds. Most seem empty but I’ve noticed big tilapia on some of them. My question is, would this indicate the bass are done spawning? Also, how would the bass behave now that the water is so clear compared to how it usually is? I really like fishing jerkbaits but I hardly ever do because of all of the submerged vegetation where I fish. With how clear the water is and how sparse the vegetation is right now, I’m thinking I should try a jerk bait. What other baits would be good to throw? I think this is a good opportunity to fish some stuff I don’t use very often, but I’m also wondering if the water clarity difference might turn the fish off.
  4. I really like my older Lews. They’re quite small. To all of you saying steez ct, how much smaller is the steez ct compared to the steez a2? I’ve never held a ct in person but it looks remarkably similar to the a2 in pictures.
  5. I love the zoom ol monster, though I’ll admit I haven’t used many different types of big worms. Lots of good suggestions in this thread. I’m definitely going to be adding some to my “must try” list.
  6. I see plenty of people say the steez A II can handle down to 3/8 and some even 1/4 oz perfectly well. I know a lot of saltwater anglers that use them for 7 gram (1/4oz) baits. I think Ben is generally correct, but it’s also not a hard and fast rule as far as weights go.
  7. I’ve never tried a trick worm as a bladed jig trailer. I’ll have to give it a shot! Thanks for the tip, OP!
  8. Interesting. I’m curious to see what you all think about them, especially compared to the jack hammer.
  9. Fishing reels are itemized in the HTS so it does not apply to them. That’s true, but It’s a separate matter. The shipper (dhl for example) can charge you a processing/handling fee but that’s not the same as a tariff. I have seen other times where people were charged the wrong tariff rate because an item was classified improperly or customs mistakenly charges the wrong rate.
  10. So does KVD degrade fluoro or mono the same way reel magic does? Also, is KVD bad for the environment like reel magic?
  11. This is happening by mistake. You shouldn’t have to pay that much for a reel or rod but lots of mistakes are being made by shippers and customs.
  12. I’m a big tatsu user so I’m definitely curious about this. Anyone try r18 for bottom contact? Where are you all finding the best prices?
  13. Thank you! I also use Tatsu for almost everything. Even my mag heavy jig/t-rig rod has 25lb tatsu on it. I just don’t like using braid for bottom contact baits. Even if I’m punching heavy grass, the 25lb tatsu seems sufficient. (Knock on wood).
  14. Thank you! Being that you fish from a boat, what are some of your go to baits right now?
  15. Thank you! So what are some things you’d be throwing right now if you were bank fishing small/medium ponds?
  16. Thank you! That’s great help! When you say the sweet spot will be mid morning to late afternoon and then it’s on, what do you mean by “then it’s on”?
  17. Get rid of all of it. Send it to me for proper disposal! In all seriousness. What do you use? What do you like? What don’t you use? What don’t you like?
  18. After all this cold weather in swfl, do you think the warming weather will bring bass shallow allowing for good bank fishing in ponds? I’ve been seeing a ton of beds for at least a month down here in southwest Florida. Can’t tell if they’re from bass or not though.
  19. Interesting. Thank you for the explanation! So sounds like the Antares is a lot smoother and casts further than the steez in your opinion. How much bigger than the steez is it?
  20. I still haven’t tried any of these “fuzzy” or “dice” style baits. I don’t have a finesse setup. Something heavier like this is interesting to me though. I’m definitely going to look into them.
  21. Oh, that’s neat. I really like that. It looks very natural. I definitely would love to get my hands on some!
  22. What do you like better about the Antares compared to the steez AII? How different are they?
  23. I’ve never even heard of that color. Anyone have a picture?
