  1. I just noticed on Digitaka when checking out they state the exchange rate is 1 US Dollar = 150.14 Japanese Yen. The current exchange rate is actually 1 US dollar = 157.46 Japanese Yen. If they used the correct exchange rate, it would obviously make items cheaper. Is there a reason they don’t use the correct exchange rate?
  2. Huh, you’re right. I just checked and they’re charging 10% now. It used to be 7.5%. Still better than 15% in any case!
  3. @Dwight Hottle 20%? Are you sure? The tariff rate with Japan is 15%. @Tarpon Hunter that used to be true until a couple of months ago. It was called “de minimis”. It meant anything under $800 was exempt. Unfortunately that’s no longer the case. You can google de minimis and read what it was and what happened.
  4. Can I muddy the waters a bit and throw in the expride? I’m just curious what’s different between the expride and the poison adrena.
  5. Ah, no for some reason I didn’t see the quoted response you wrote. I must have missed it. Sorry about that. So do you set up magZ boost the same as you described above?
  6. @sasquatch2711 you got a used one? They just came out this year. Are you sure it’s the same rod the thread is about? If it is, how does the sensitivity stack up? Do you feel it’s worth 550? Now this is interesting. How much $$? @Bigbox99
  7. Just to clarify, are you saying sv won’t be as forgiving? @Micro Module Police How does magZ compare to magZ boost? @bulldog1935 Sorry to interrupt the thread, OP!
  8. Do you have or have you had any other older lews? Steez AII is still the same frame shape as the steez 2016 isn’t it? @Micro Module Police
  9. Generally speaking, if an item is wholly described in the HTS documentation, meaning it has a code (as fishing reels do) you don’t also have to pay raw material duties on top of the HTS item code duties. So reels shouldn't be subject to any raw materials tariffs. But as has been said before, this whole mess is very hard to navigate, so no guarantees.
  10. Dang. That’s too bad. It’s never nice seeing a business go belly up.
  11. I may need to try that!
  12. The 10 pound 4 ounce was in NY.
  13. Awesome! Glad to hear it’s working out. Thanks for letting us know!
  14. I said that more in response to people saying that you need to start by finding a place that has big bass in it. I disagree with that sentiment. How you twisted that into me saying “go fish any place that has bass in it” is beyond me. Agree to disagree. I caught my largest bass (10 pound 4 ounces) out of a 1.5 acre pond. We would catch dozens of dinks an hour in that pond. I never thought big bass would live there and then one day…
  15. I think it’s one of those things you just have to get used to. If you can’t get used to it then stick with a different brand.
  16. Do any of you find they last longer on a weighted owner twistlock than a jig head?
  17. I disagree with the sentiment of needing to “find a place that holds giant bass”. In my humble opinion, any water that has bass in it could possibly have giant bass in it. I’ve caught absolute monsters out of tiny ponds no more than an acre or two. I’ve also caught monsters out of giant lakes that are several hundred acres with miles and miles of shoreline.
  18. That’s good to hear. I know digitaka had a similar policy but I have no idea if anyone was charged extra by the shipping company. Hopefully some members will chime in. Oh and about the aluminum/steel tariffs, as far as reels are concerned, they aren’t subject to any additional tariffs like steel/aluminum. Fishing equipment is its own category on the Harmonized Tariff Schedule so it’s only subject to the base tariffs. Woah. Didn’t notice that. That seems odd. Is that reel made in China? That’s the only thing I can think of. I forget what China’s rate was but I think it was around 55%. It just got lowered 10% to 45% the other day fortunately.
  19. The problem is, I don’t think they can make the guarantee about not be charged anything extra after the order. The shippers have been charging “brokerage fees” before and sometimes after delivery. Asian Portal Fishing has no control over what they do. Digitaka said similar. Has anyone ordered from them and then been charged additional fees?
  20. So this happened on multiple Daiwa reels? Do you know what caused them to stick like that? How old were they and have you had any issues since fixing them?
  21. How long does the color bleed take when mixing two different color plastics?
  22. This site is gonna cost me a fortune…
  23. I love my Dobyn’s champion extremes. They’re extremely well balanced. Plus, the lifetime warranty is awesome.
