  1. Don't get me wrong, I love custom jigs and fish with them almost exclusively, but you can catch fish on just about any jig out there. That doesn't mean I'm going to use super crappy ones because I love custom jigs, but for what it's worth, cheap jigs catch fish.
  2. Sometimes, the fish tell you what they want and it defies logic and everything you've been told. Something about a red crankbait seems to drive them crazy sometimes; I experienced the same last week.
  3. Love it
  4. Thanks guys, I really appreciate it. I don't have hookset problems with any other bait, so I found it kind of ironic lol. I think I need to wait a little longer before setting the hook, so thanks for the advice.
  5. Despite my screen name, I haven't figured out everything about senkos The fish around here are liking a weightless texas-rigged senko at the moment, and I've always thrown them wacky rigged in the past. Need a little help. What hook are you guys using with them, and how do you set the hook? I've been using a 3/0 EWG and setting the hook straight above my head like I always do (using both a M spinning rod with 8 lb test and a MH baitcasting with 30 lb. braid), and my hookup ratio is terrible. Any help appreciated, thanks guys.
  6. When you buy a 1/10 oz bait, that's what you should expect. A jighead makes a world of difference
  7. I put one on the other day just for the heck of it and didn't like it personally lol.
  8. Good work Hootie!
  9. I'm a huge fan of YouTube fishing channels; I too was sad to see a lot of the big names go the professional route in the last couple of years. I still watch their channels, but with less enjoyment. You wanna know a freaking great channel? DallMYD. The dude has some epic videos. He is sponsored by one company I think but he rarely showcases them.
  10. Ended up in 99.6%, so a 0.3 percent drop. Not too bad, hoping for a great tourney at Toledo
  11. I love war eagle, strike king would be a close second
  12. At the risk of being a jerk and not giving you an opinion on the three you mentioned, the rod that got bleeped out has some of the best craftmanship and high-end feel of any rod I've used in the $100 range. Just putting that out there.
  13. We start mowing at around 6:30 in the summer at work and no complaints to date......we don't start in the nice neighbourhoods tho
  14. Same thing is happening to me, it actually does count my like as a like but directs me to that page.
  15. If you're taking the expense to take him to El Salto, a low end spinning combo shouldn't be a huge issue. You can always use it afterwards
  16. ^^^^^^^^^^^^
  17. It happens, no law against it and you never know what great topics you might bring back to life
  18. The Storm Wiggle Wart comes to mind, as well as the Luhr Jenson Speed Trap.
  19. Very much agreed. Glenn has done a great job keeping this place open and friendly to all ages and walks of life.
  20. I use a MH with braid. I like braid cause I'm usually throwing them into pretty gnarly cover.
  21. Chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, swimbaits, lipless crankbaits, flukes, jigs, topwaters, squarebills, and trick worms.
  22. Good work Justin, nothing like breaking in a new rod
  23. That was great, thanks for sharing.
  24. The fish have been in a funk over the last month in this pond, and I've gone three times and basically got skunked, although I saw five to six fish in the five pound range on beds. The other day, they were biting just about anything I threw. Caught about 10 on a red Red Eye Shad, caught one and lost three on a Yum Dinger t-rigged, one on a jig, and then the lunker of the day came on a Big Joshy Swimbait and weighed 4.5 lbs. All in all, fantastic day on the water. The dang sideways pic thing is annoying me to death lol
