  1. Because it catches fish...........
  2. Makes sense... I may have to bring mine out in the canoe or kayak on the camping trip... Small dog, Aussie Mini we get her in a few weeks. Have to give it a year or so though!
  3. I was about to say.. That's freaking awesome! But never seen G throw swimbaits.. But ya never know. Still awesome though!
  4. Mass shootings and the gun regulation freak out. Give it two years, the Hillary* freak out will have things the same way. *Not to be interpreted as a political statement. I simply mean that if there is speculation that .22, AR's, or high cap mags will be made illegal to produce, demand, and thus price, will skyrocket through the roof.
  5. XCalibur is my favorite, but I'll fish all different types of Squarebills. I have KVD's, XPS, XCS, Arashi's, Matzuo's, Bandit's. There is not a bait I won't try. Next on my short list are the LC Skeet Reese, Yamamoto 100, and the Lucky Strike RC baits. Any other recommendations I should try?
  6. Why the Moderate Fast Taper?
  7. Wouldn't a big jig also transfer that information of bottom composition just as well, and I would think it would be easier to feel what's actually going on with the bait, because you are in direct contact with it, so you can feel that bite, unlike a C-Rig? Feel free to correct me if I am wrong, just trying to get what I can from this thread.
  8. I feel you on this weather. Only a few hours south of you, and the weather has been up and down. Today it was blue bird skies, a cloud here or there. The sump pump had finally stopped pumping, and there it goes, pouring down and lightning! Sump pump is getting its fair share of work in.
  9. That's what I'm thinking I will fish them on.. What rod?
  10. Nice! Also looks like they made a new Laser MG. Still graphite frame and 8 bearings, but it's new LFS build looks slick and I'm guessing palms well. If you're looking for an entry level reel, it's it.
  11. Haha, I've never fished tournaments either. I've been looking for somewhere I could join up as a Co-Angler for a not so big fee... We shall see. Wonder if I'd even be good in a tourney...
  12. Good that you like having the boat. Do you fish tourneys?
  13. I get the rigors of life. I'm a full time student and a swimmer, so I spend 13 hours daily at school. I also pull 2 jobs. But I've still gone fishing more than twice this year, that's for sure. It can be done. Not trying to offend, just saying that short notice trips can be made. I didn't realize you were from a big boy boat. I'm assuming those things are a lot more time consuming trying to make a trip. I apologize if I offended you.
  14. They do CPR tourneys for Kayak guys around here. It would be interesting if they used the Score Tracker app and scales. Wonder how they would keep people honest... But I guess you can't do that in a photo tourney either if you can't monitor them on their boat. Maybe a roaming boat?
  15. I get it, but I don't buy everything I can afford is my point. Sometimes, its worth passing up. If I find proof that this bait works (ie... I watch my fishing buddy catch fish on it in our local waters better than my frogs) than sure, I'll pick one up...
  16. If that caused a bunch of vegetation in the water, and it lowered water clarity my advice would be to fish shallow. Squarebill Crankbaits, Spinnerbaits, and Pitching or Flippin' a plastic are all good techniques.
  17. Are you fishing from shore? Work shouldn't mean you only fish twice in the last 7 months... Fishing can be as simple or as complicated as you want to make it, but if this place is close to where you work or live, you should get out on it at least weekly. Keep SOME (not all) gear in the car, go before work, after work, on your days off, rain, shine, any time! As long as conditions aren't dangerous you should be fishing. Period.
  18. I'm not saying go cheap, I'm saying go with good value. It's like working hard vs working smart and efficient. You can drive an overpriced car, or you can buy one that does the same thing with similar amenities for cheaper... But if you like to burn thousands of dollars for the fun of it, you can do just that.
  19. I just think I can find a bait that can do that job at a lesser price, maybe not so much with a swimbait. For $4 on sale at DSG I got a bunch of Booyah Pad Crashers and Poppin Pad Crashers. IMO, they really don't look at a frog bait and say, hey, that's a frog! They look at it and say, hey, I can eat that! They see the colors, but they don't see a frog. Most frogs can imitate any number of things, including Bluegill. The Booyah frogs have great soft yet durable bodies, awesome colors, and premium hooks. I've never had a problem getting hook ups with them. No need to pay $13.50, when I can get the job done for 4 bones.
  20. Ok, thanks for the heads up.
  21. Probably the most logical thing to come out of this thread. Good thought.
