  1. I have 3 of the 8 foot ugly stik catfish rods. I have abu garcia c3 6501s on the two casting rods and a Shimano Stratic 4000 on my spinning rod.
  2. My local rural king had all of their lures on sale for $1 for all crappie gear and $2 for all bass lures from Strike King. Check it out
  3. I use straight braid for everything. The water here is all stained or dirty. I just tie everything on and call it a day
  4. I like shimano baitcasters, pflueger spinning reels and fenwick rods for my bass gear. I like Abu Garcia baitcasters and ugly stik for my catfish rods. I like specific products companies make more than actual brand loyalty. I buy pretty much the same lures and soft plastics all the time too.
  5. Thanks for all the help folks! I’ll get my parts ordered tonight. now to solve the mystery of my grinding president
  6. I bought new in 2017. ?. I literally have used it like 2 times
  7. I saw that Picture on ebay, and I was thinking i might be short a part. If i flip my spool tension knob over it just shows the gold inside of the spool tension knob (what I'm calling metal, It maybe carbon fiber. I know its a really lightweight material like aluminum but different. Probably carbon fiber now that you say it). I dont see either of those two parts in the Picture (middle or right) in my spool tension knob.
  8. knob is going on straight. It felt "too tight" before i oiled it, but it seems to be just fine now. I was wondering this as well. It seems to be the most logical place to go next. Does anyone have a Curado K that they could post a picture of the inside of the spool tension knob? Mine just looks to be metal to metal. I think there may be a thin piece of plastic/rubber/silicone whatever it is that may help grab the spool more than straight metal. Pictures online arn't helpful from dr google.
  9. Internal brakes are all on. I turned them on in hopes to help solve the issue.
  10. It is completely closed and latched. I took the spool out and put it back. It’s doing the same thing. Weird for a basically new reel. The line is also bunching up on one side
  11. Yes multiple times. I’ve also oiled everything. I can tighten it down to a painful amount and minimal movement. It doesn’t slow the fall rate of the bait however
  12. I am posting here having same problem. I tighten the spool tension knob as tight as it can be tightened and spool still moves. I bought this reel new in 2017 just now using it unfortunately
  13. My curado k reel seems to stay loose. I can’t make it tight enough. Tons of slack in the spool and my bait never stops falling at a quick rate causing tons of backlashes. Any suggestions as to what the problem and solution may be?
  14. 5 years and a heck of a time trying to remember my password, but I am finally back! I’ve been away from fishing for a long time, but recently caught the bug again. I live in Greenwood, Indiana now. I’ve been divorced/married again since I posted here last. I also have a 7 month old son now! I’ve owned 3 different boats that all have been sold. I now have a pair of kayaks we take down river to fish. I’ve owned more rods/reels/tackle than I want to admit or remember. personal best to this point is 4lb 11 oz greenback 3 lb bronze back. I fish the river almost exclusively now.
  15. In my kayak I’ll take 1-3 Rods. 8:5:1 my/f 7.2:1 mh/moderate spinning rod
  16. I never got into it any farther: I just left it at my parents house. I think they put it in the bottom of their pond.
  17. I just looked over the boat again, and I couldn't find a hull. it does however has some old remnants of stickers for registration numbers. this makes this mystery all the more complicated.
  18. I was recently given an old jon boat from a farmer who harvests across the street from my parents, and I am not entirely sure how to get it registered. The farmer bought the land this year, and he found the old boat on the property. He knew that I was a fisherman and he had no use for it, so he gave the boat to me. I want to get this boat in the water, but the BMV website is as clear as mud. I can't seem to find a hull number on it anywhere, so I am not sure that the boat has ever been registered. I have no idea of knowing who the previous owner is either, so there is no way to track down a title. if anyone has suggestions please let me hear them. I called the BMV already, and they were limited help as well.
  19. Truck just kept going, if there is a claim filed my car insurance will cover it, but no one stopped after they hit it. Multiple semi drivers kept running it over
  20. I just bought a brand new 2016 Honda 9.9 horse motor a couple weeks ago and yesterday was the first time I took it out. I was coming home 4 miles from my exit and the motor fell off the back of the boat. It was run over by a semi and is totaled. The transom on my job boat was marine wood and it slipped off going down the road. I tightened both of the knobs well before I left the dock to return home and they didn't budge. We fished all day and didn't have a problem. 3k down the drain. Oh well atleast no one got hurt. Moral of the story don't buy nice things if your name is jitterbug
  21. Simply amazing baitcasters. I have owned 5 of 6 different models, and they all are workhorses. I don't buy anything else. I prefer pflueger spinning, but they make good spinning reels.
  22. I always use my left hand on the rod too.
  23. Just personal preference I guess. I feel like part of rod is missing on pistol grips
