Hello My Name Is Rob, And I Am From Indiana

Featured Replies

Hello there,

I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Rob, and I am currently a bank fisherman from Indiana. This is my first year fishing since I was a kid, and I have absolutely loved it. I spent the early part of the year going after catfish, but I found it to be a little to stationary for my personality. I was bored one day, and I was going through the very small tackle box my dad gave me that he had sitting in the garage for 20 years (I found his license from 1994, and that was the last time he fished). I found some lures that i knew were for bass fishing, but I had no clue how to use them. My apartment is straight across from the river here in town, and I went down there to catfish with little luck in the past. I went down to the river with my little tackle box with bass baits in it, and put a spinnerbait on the end my line. Within 10 minutes I hooked into a fish, and i didn't know what it was. The fish was jumping out of the water, and gave me a great fight. I got the fish in, and it was a nice 1 lb smallmouth bass. I have been hooked on catching bass since then.

I have a couple simple combo i bought at a pawnshop (abu garcia 402i and ugly stik gx2 if you were wondering) that i have been using this season. I like the abu for my finesse baits and the ugly stick for my heavier crankbaits, jigs, spinners, etc. I've had quite a bit of luck this year just bank fishing the river, and I am looking into a kayak now. I can't wait for spring.

I really like top water baits for where i fish the best. The pop-R and weedless frogs have done me well. I've also had some luck with sexy shad colored crankbaits.

Welcome, Rob!

Well, we met on another thread but welcome aboard!

Hello Rob, you'll soon grow tired of the bank. A 10' jonboat or even an inflatable raft like i fish is really all you need.

Pelican Raiders (10ft) are slso very very nice

Welcome to the place

I might look into a raft. it would be ideal since i live in an apartment anyways.

Intex Mariner 4, composite motor mount, MinnKota 30lb, and a deep cycle battery and you're on the water. (Quite stable and comfy too)

You'll get the odd hole from time to time, patching is super easy. It doesn't ruin your day, just fix before next time you go out.

Seems to be! I am looking into Kayaks myself. I would love to get a used boat, and just saw a really clean looking 2005 Bass Tracker Fully Loaded for $6,000. It's too bad I don't have any room to put the boat.

Welcome bud, this site is a huge help

5 years and a heck of a time trying to remember my password, but I am finally back! I’ve been away from fishing for a long time, but recently caught the bug again. I live in Greenwood, Indiana now. I’ve been divorced/married again since I posted here last. I also have a 7 month old son now! I’ve owned 3 different boats that all have been sold. I now have a pair of kayaks we take down river to fish. I’ve owned more rods/reels/tackle than I want to admit or remember.

personal best to this point is 4lb 11 oz greenback 3 lb bronze back.

I fish the river almost exclusively now.
