Lithium ion or lead acid?
Curious what everyone is running for they’re trolling motors? I just need a single 12 volt in the group 24-27 range. ( 20’year diesel mechanic/industrial mechanic) I totally know the difference I lead acid and lithium. And know you can’t use the true whole battery on a lead acid. So I was curious what everyone is using. I’m just looking for 2-6 hours of run time and not break the bank

Joedodge is off the bank (got a boat)
Thank you. Needs some TLC. But doesn’t appear to need much. I need to repack the trailer bearings. And find a new rubber cap or buddy bearing and fix a tail light. Other than that the trailer is in decent order. And I wana size up to 12 inch wheels and tires.

Picked it up this morning. Pretty cool little 14’ long 5’ beam aluminum boat. Came with a 36 pound thrust trolling motor. Safety equipment and a Lowrance elite-3x. Has a 1958 sea strike motor ( I’ll be removing it for another trolling motor. Came with a fitted cover as well. Towed home just fine and has all paper work. They did a nice job making the decks. I plan to remove the front chair though. I’m gonna start a thread documenting cleaning it up and getting it the way I want!

Fished a set up exactly like that hauled the same way and everything for years. My trolling motor canoe was pretty cool.

This is a 270 acre lake and I have found a topo map for it. Would you consider that a small Or larger lake?

How to build confidence once on the water
Thanks everyone. It’s a job boat with an electric motor. Not a ton different than my canoe with a trolling motor. And I’ve operated tons of boats. I guess I just need to not get in my head!

How to build confidence once on the water
So I’ve bank fished forever. And taking it serious for the last 10 years. As I get closer to the boat deal. I will be able to get out on small to medium lakes. How do you build confidence in that? On the bank I know what to look for. And honestly ya just walk the bank. But once on a larger body of water. What is your go to tactic? To get started.

Drifting Vs Stationary in a boat
I believe he’s referring to letting the boat drift and cover water. Not so much dead sticking. When I had a canoe and kayak I always drifted unless I got on a really good spot

Got this lil 1.5 pound beauty after work today. I’m loving the bladed jig. Building a lot of confidence in it. Can’t wait for the bite to get more consistent. Note the snow that still hasn’t melted in background lol.

Best Hooks?
I’ve pretty much used them all over the years. Any of the quality coated hooks are great. It’s more about the intended purpose and sizing it correctly to the bait. That said I buy gamakatsu and owner mostly.

Help me decide kayak or jon boat?
Recreational paddling definitely is not my thing. I enjoy the ease of a kayak a lot. But I don’t wana fight Midwest wind paddling and tryin to fish.
