  1. Thank you so much for the help!
  2. That’s perfect. Yeah that’s the plan. And that what has stopped me forever even trying to throw cranks. I don’t have a cranking rod or a slow gear ratio reel. But I’m gonna get a few and try it out. Then I’ll add that stuff in if there is success.
  3. Thank you so much. Fleet farm has a good selection of the dt-6 readily available 5 mins from the house. So I’m glad to hear ya recommend those. The three colors makes good sense.
  4. So I’ve never fished crank baits. Just lipless. But I’d like to get into it. I’d like a few basic cranks like the frittside or something. Stuff that will run 10’ and under. And help or colors or brands or anything is appreciated! And yes I’ve been reading and researching all day lol
  5. Very nice man! Love a good jig fish.
  6. Let me know I may be interested. I’ve spent a lot of my fun money on the boat though lol
  7. One day I’d like to get a $200-250 dollar rod. Just to say I tried one. And compare it to the falcon lowriders I fish.
  8. I’m the same way. Some kinda green, brown, or black basically gets it done or it’s not gonna lol.
  9. Until you said that @Pat Brown i never thought about it. But siting here thinking I swim the crap out of a Texas rig lol. Free rig is a game that’s gonna be played this year
  10. Went back out at sunset before the blizzard we are getting rolls in. 2 of them wanted to play. So strange how this pond is amazing at sunrise. But any other time of the day it’s hit or miss. But I’ll take every bite I can get.
  11. This may be the best thing I’ve read today. And is spot on.
  12. I considered making a rudder or skeg. I’m gonna have my 36 pound thrust trolling motor on the back. I’m hoping is acts as a rudder some.
  13. Oh thank you I hadn’t found that source yet! Well my daughter and I made a bass pro trip today. ( snuck out for a bit repainting the downstairs of the house…..ughhhhh. Picked up a minnnkota edge 55 pound thrust 45 inch shaft 12 volt motor. Got the breaker for it and picked up at fleet farm what I need to wire it in. And got some duplex wire to wire the lowrance in on its own circuit. Instead of in the trolling motor wiring like it currently is. Get it registered Tuesday when I’m home with her for spring break that day. And probably mount the new motor even though it will be 35 degrees lol. Tomm is snow and rain but it won’t stick but my outside time for the weekend is shot lol. Next Saturday should be the best run and see how it all goes. Seeing I have any rivets that seep.
  14. It doesn’t start and parts are hard to find. I could get it to run. But a lot of the lakes here that are smaller gonna fish (250 acres or so) are either electric only or 5mph no wake. So I’m going electric and not even gonna worry about a gas motor. And then there is no maintenance or fuel cost. Just keen the battery on the charger and install it and go. Thank you. It isn’t much but it will do just fine for my needs and hopefully be a lot of fun. As I previously said. If ya wana see a boat build showcasing buying every expensive thing bass pro has. This ain’t it lol. The trolling motor I got for it cost as much as the boat haha.
  15. Got new lights and harness installed. Lubed up the tongue latch as well and looked over the trailer one More time. Need to get it registered this coming week and get its numbers on it. And we are ready to make a test run. See how it goes and on to the trolling motor upgrades. Or maybe I’ll do it before the test run. Idk we shall see. Not like im turning back now. I’ll fix whatever comes up lol
  16. Soon enough you will be slaying them and showing us 5 pounders! Admittedly I’ve been workin fin my boat more than my lil 1.5 hour adventures. And our weather just isn’t stable yet lol. I wana fish so I go. But this morning was 34 lol. My hands were about done after 1 hour. And that’s with gloves lol
  17. Had a great morning. We had a wonderful blue hour this morning. Got up and got on the pond just before the sun came up. Lost count honestly on how many of these 1.5 pounders I caught in an hour. We are getting a storm and cold weather tonite/tomorrow. And they were loving the blades jig still. I’ve got to where I can feel the bite and get a good hook set on them. The chain of ponds I fish three of them get treated for weeds and algae and such so their production fluctuates. This one is left to have its own cycle. And it’s amazing very early. After about 10 am it’s a tough fish though very strange.
  18. Absolutely. I’ll get some for ya today. It’s not hard to cover and uncover it. I thought it was a pretty simple effective idea when I saw it.
  19. Thought I’d post this one. Previous owner is an industrial electrician working in plants like where I work. He made these cover props out of electrical emt. And has coupling amounted on the inside of the top rail to pop them in and out. Works great to keep water and snow from pooling bad on the cover.
  20. Little after work progress. The old bearings and races had some water intrusion and sitting for a few years had one side pitted pretty good. New bearings and races and seals and cotter pins. And new bearing buddy’s installed. And all fresh grease obviously. Being a professional mechanic pays off occasionally lol. And working for a wastewater plant now as a mechanic instead of on trucks. All my tools are at home for the first time in 20 years lol. Quick 1 hour project.
  21. Oh no I’m Not doing that right away. Just like the option for the future if I hate how tall it is. I plan to do exactly what you said. And see what I’m like. And yeah @gim ruined me as well with that. But thanks to you now it’s pirates of the Caribbean now!
  22. Absolutely. A jig has no calendar, no water temperature, no time of the year. You can catch them on any kinda jig just about anytime of the year. Probably my favorite lure ever. Throw to cover, grass. Swim it slow or fast. Hope it whatever it takes to get them to bite.
  23. Ma that’s a lot! Ours is 3-5”. And true about the calender lol
  24. Well that’s settled lol. Edge it is. that’s an excellent point. It has a very small lowrance $100 unit. I’d like to eventually upgrade to a garmin strike 4 cv. Or maybe something a tad better. I love the idea of wiring them up like that though. I’d hate to have to paddle home
  25. Since it’s getting into rainy season. And we are supposed to have snow Sunday. ( absolutely Nuts weather this spring) Fleet farm had covers 20% off. So I bought a new cover with no rips to try and preserve the decking and carpet since it lives outside now that I have it. They had it in a shop building. God wish fleet farm Sponsored me lol. Im constantly there.
