I’m throwing a ton of finesse jigs this year and really liking it. Generally 3/16-5/16 weight. Then the trailer. I also throw a lot of weightless plastics or Texas rigs up to 1/8-3/16 pegged weight. falcon has the low rider in a 6’ 10” MH that is MF that is rated 3/16-5/8 ounce lures. that they call the finesse jig model. Just curious every one’s thoughts on it for a bank fishing set up?

Sounds a lot like here in Iowa. I can work a pond hard for a couple hours and get maybe 1-2 fish. Had one morning I put 4 together in 45 mins or so and was shocked. I wish the wind would stop I’ve been trying to work 3/16 finesse jigs and a trailer on 12 pound mono and I can feel it not even hit bottom in the wind lol once the line bows

I’m not sure about everyone else but I’m about tired of 20 mph winds all day lol. And I’d like some consistent weather lol. That said I’ve put some catches together on spinnerbaits or jigs or stick baits . (thats al I’ve been throwing though) finesse jigs has been the ticket with a small trailer. But I feel like the weather just isn’t stable yet. And water temps aren’t up high enough.

I’m really new to jigs but enjoying the intricate fishing style. I throw finesse swim jigs. 3.16-5/16 I trim the skirts up some to enhance the trailer action and give the skirt some life. So far a zoom super chunk hr trailer has been the best. I have some paca chunks and middle bait chunks but haven’t had any bites on them. Maybe too much action for how cool the Midwest water is still? Today was the first day I tried a full size super chunk trail to change the ROF. And wow it really slowed the jig down. Lots to learn and everyone here has been so helpful. Personaly I’ll stick to finesse jigs or aggressively trimmed jigs.

Right now? Learning new waters after moving across country lol war eagle finesse spinner bait 3/16-5/16 finesse swim jig 5” stick bait 3/8 mini Max blades jig ( never caught a dang thing on a bladed jig tho) 4” creature of some kind Large ribbon tail tbosw woild be mine and what I’m confident and productive or want to learn to fish. I don’t complicate things much. And only really fish a couple color baits

Thank you! I planned to snag some of those! I have one of the standard swim jigs by them. I got at a local store. But haven’t trimmed it up and thrown it yet. One thing I like about them is the 1/4 ounce. I kinda like that instead of 3/16 or 5/16. I know that’s probably silly

I wana try the siebert. But haven’t ordered one yet. A tad heavier but I like the war eagle finesse spinnerbait. It’s a 5/16 ounce though.

Not sure for blue basser. But I ordered green pumpkin, a brown craw and black. and I’ve caught fish so far on Bitsy bug and mission mini swim jig in brown, green and black blue

Hmmm ok. Maybe I’ll give some a try then. Spool the same way as mono for a baitcaster? And just hope to not have a ton of memory lol

Thank you! Thanks everyone for the tips! I’m gonna implement all of them. All I’ve been fishing is a jig. The last week or two. And I’m really liking it. It’s like a Texas rig on steroids how I’m fishing it. I wish I could bring myself to try flourocarbon. I just don’t wana deal with line conditioning and all that.

Thank you! That’s how most of my bites have been go to make the next hop and feel the weight of the fish. I’m not traditionally jigging I guess. Im working ponds with limited cover. So basically hopping like a Texas rig after casting.

Ahh ok perfect. Yep snot covered ponds with rock banks. Biggest I’ve caught was around 4 pounds. You nailed it tho hopping a light swim jig off the bottom since it cuts through the moss and much or lays on it. Rarely clean the jig head off honestly. I just wants sure if I could be experimenting better since I’m taking the jig real serious.

So I’m fishing 3/16-1/4 ounce finesse jigs and zoom super chunk jr trailer on a medium power Daiwa tatula xt 1/4-3/4 rating. I’m using 12 pound suffix elite mono. For cast ability with such light lures. And for bite detection and hook set should I try braid?? I’ve fished braid for years and years and recently went back to mono to try it out. But now that I’m so serious on the jigs I’m considering trying a good 8 strand braid.

I bank fish. And used to kayak/canoe a lot. I’ve always brought a gallon zip lock bag with me. wet lures go in there for the day till I get home to let them dry out. I don’t save rusty tackle tho honestly.

Ahh seen assumed it was a reaction strike swiping at it. I’ve tried the holding the line with my finger tip. But I just can’t palm a baitcaster like that and have power to set the hook and have control It really is insane. So fast.

So I’ve really taking a liking to jog fishing. most of yall know this. But my wife can only Listen to me talk fishing so much. So I’ll talk to you all lol. I’m waiting on some siebert snipers to come. But I’ve thrown and caught fish on the 1/4 ounce Bitsy bug. And middle baits mini swim jig. One in green pumpkin and one in brown. And both with a zoom super chunk jr in green pumpkin. I tried trimming the middle baits jug and gave it some more flare. Which improved action from what I can see in the water near the bank. The bites I’m getting a better feel for. It’s more subtle but I feel the thump like I would with a stick bait. But once they hit it on the fall. I can feel the weight of the fish before making the next hop! I’ve missed some hook sets from them quickly rejecting the bait. But that’s ok! This morning I got two small probably 1 pounders. In about an hour on the pond before work. They were hooked in the corner of the mouth so I think it’s a reaction bite not a feeding bite. They are swiping at it. anyway sorry for the rant just excited
