  1. Drop Shot. Stay with one lure for longer and not keep switching. But, that was only some days.
  2. I agree with Catt: "When in doubt drop the rod, reel the slack, & set the hook!" Like this
  3. Watch the fishing channel Go ice fishing when there is safe ice. Dream. Vacation to Florida or Cabo San Lucas.
  4. Fish more. Focus on two or three new techniques one at a time till proficient. Get even better with electronics regarding depth and frequency. Fish more with my son and grandkids. Fish more alone. Thats a paradox! Maybe a new(er) boat so my misses and grandkids can fit comfortably - all 9 of them! Practice falling overboard with clothes on in summer and climb back in. And go to annual Ultimate Fishing Expo in January.
  5. I have a 16ft aluminum that I load up. I have the MotorGuide 55 lb thrust. Cable control with foot pedal. Works great except in strong winds. I also use a windsock at times.
  6. Great ideas and nice to know that at 63, I am not alone. Always be safe. Be prepared. Good advice. Thanks.
  7. 9 days - sad to say. Some were great others not so much. Tried different lakes-didnt do too bad. Always ended up back in Lake St Clair.
  8. Lots to learn Welcome aboard. Share when you can.

  10. Nice. Real nice job. Thanks for sharing.
  11. In Michigan, from the boat, it is pre-planning, read the latest fishing reports online, obtain lake details onsite such as temperature, color, wind, structure, cover, etc. Then, I will work an area meticulously, or I may drift with or without a windsock, I may use trolling motor, or just anchor. Now that boat is winterized, I fish from shore when not freezing cold or wait for hard water. I do like live bait>>emerald shiners, night crawlers and usually have in boat, though, I love throwing hard baits, plastics, etc. Good luck out there.
  12. Wide deep gunnels n a comfortable place for momma n junior to relax n play.
  13. Nice Lund. Dang 1970 sweet.
  14. Thanks. Gotta try.
  15. Like your post AJAY.
  16. I live in Michigan. Boat is in garage with cement floor. I clear out boat. Open all hatches. I put mothballs in open sandwich baggies all over inside, plus cedar wood blocks, and clothes dryer sheets. In garage on floor I bait them in two places and sometimes kill one or two or none all winter. Never had a mouse problem. I used to do this with my camper and never had mice.
  17. Bass Pro Shops Johnny Morris Carbonlite baitcaster combo for $100 when on sale. Take a look at TackleWarehouse for tackle too.
  18. wow. Thanks for sharing.
  19. Pontoons very hard to tow n launch. Unless you can dock it all summer but then exposed to elements. Fish n ski is good. I like aluminum. Many manufactuers offer glass fish n ski like a Tahoe. But i dont like glass boats as they are lots of work. Keeping hull clean and scrape free. Get an outboard motor as easier and cheaper to maintain. I have alum Lund but wife complains no bow seats for her or grandkids. Alum fish n ski for me in next couple years. Deck boats dont slice thru water like a v hull. Get 20-21 feet. 100 inches wide. Deep gunnels. You can add features later like trolling motor, bimini, etc. I'd look on craigslist, boat trader, and dealersvwith used boats. If private sale, take out on water and take a knowedgeable boating friend. New boat with payments is ok if not a long term loan. Like a car. Read up on internet about buying a usef boat or first time buyer. Good luck.
  20. You can also pumpthru propylene glycol after oil chg and fogging. I add the antifreeze here in lower Michigan and store in garage. Just added insurance. Also grease steering, chk trim oil, tighten bolts all over. I also put open bags of mothballs n cedar to keep out mice.
  21. ask away. Dont touch my stuff.
