  1. It has a ramp up to speed, but its pretty quick. Even my 80# can throw you off balance if its turned up higher and the head is turned to one side or the other.
  2. Most of the ponds i fish are too soft to wade. You will sink over knee deep in water that would be ankle deep on a harder bottom. I wade a few creeks, but they have harder bottoms. As far as snakes, i try to avoid them, and have a pistol for the ones i cant.
  3. Finally got my shirt in today.
  4. Siebert 3/8 dredge brush with tied skirt and a shortened rage craw. I always have at least one tied on at all times.
  5. Ok. I was just wanting to see if it was an isolated case with me or not. I hate waiting. Patience aint my best virtue.
  6. Has anyone else did the huk shirt giveaway from the bass pro spring sale? I did, but have not received my shirt yet. Mailed it off feb 19th, and my check was processed though my bank march 11th, but i still have not received my shirt. I was curious if this is the case with anyone else or not.
  7. I dont think the helix 5's are networkable. The only 7's that network are the N models, like a helix 7 si g2n.
  8. Pegboard hooks. Easy to see and grab when restocking.
  9. Had one for years until the velcro wore out. Never had a problem with it holding rods when it was in good shape. Replaced it with a retractable rodbuckle though. The velcro ones are also a hook magnet, especially trebles.
  10. Trokar tk130
  11. Trick i learned to quickly unspool a reel is to take a empty tp roll and stick it over a cordless drill chuck. Cut a small slit in opposite end of roll to stick line in to get started. Open bail and pull drill trigger. Ive got a suction cup spooler that works for respooling standard 200yd spools, but wont fit my 1000yd spools of bulk line. I usually just stick to a pencil between my knees.
  12. Id give the 765 a shot before i went buying another rod. You will be suprised at how well it handles what you want to do in lighter weights and more sparse cover.
  13. Only time i ever use a swivel is a carolina rig or using a double fluke setup. I never prerig anything. I adjust when i get to the water to the conditions on hand. A few times, i will crank motor with water intake jist below waterline, and let it idle then get tm out and rig up while trolling out past no wake bouys.
  14. I have a champ 765 and use 3/8 most of the time pitching into pretty much anywhere. It has a really nice tip and handles the lighter weight well, but loads up quick when a fish hits. Im wanting a 766 for a second flip/pitch rod, especially for heavier weights. I really dont punch where i fish generally.
  15. If you were on the lake trolling around, it was not contour lines. That was your track, showing whwre the boat had been. You can turn that off, where it wont show on screen. Unless you have a map card in, you would be in base maps most likely. My advise is to turn it on in simulation mode in the garage, and zoom out on maps and find you local lake and look around. Go to other screens and play with settings and just play with it and learn about it. Dont worry about if you screw up a setting. You can always go back to default settings, which resets any changes you make back to how it was in factory.
  16. Dobyns champ 702sf with a pflueger supreme 30, yellow 15# pp8 optional flouro leader.
  17. Depends on the lure im skipping. I dont have a "skipping rod". I have been learning to skip with my regular rods i use for the bait, like my jig rods or my senko rod. So i have 6,7,&8:1 reels i use.
  18. I prefer one rainsuit and layer under for warmth. I got frogg toggs, but bought them one size larger than i needed to accomdate layers underneath.
  19. I use a dobyns champion 683sf. Love the sensitivity of it. I also use yellow 15# pp8 braid for line watching, occasionally with a flouro leader. I tried for a while with my st croix avid 6'8" med xf worm rod, but i find they sink straight down alot better on a spinning gear, and it also much easier for me to skip too.

X2 . I also soak it good when spooling, and again before each trip.
  21. In origional bag, in ziploc bags by type, ie.. craws, jig chunks, beavers, elaztech, worms, etc. I keep one or two bags up front of what im using and rest in a duffle box behind seats. When i go pond fishing i just grab one of the bags from front box.
  22. Rooster tails. May not catch big fish but usually good for smaller fish and numbers, as well as crappie and bream.
  23. It was epoxied down with the epoxy that came with the unit. Im hoping now i dont have to remove it, i think i can put the new one in by the existing one. I decided to try and leave old puck in case it can be used again if i go back to a lowrance unit. I do plan to put a ziplock bag of sand on new puck with water in hull over it, to make sure its in a good spot on hull.
  24. When i set out to learn to flip a trusted (and far better) buddy told me to learn cast it lefty. His advise was "you're gonna suck at it either way for a while, so start lefty and you wont have to switch or relearn it later like i did". So i have always been a lefty on pitching/flipping
