Silly MLF rule
http://www.waff.com/story/26537713/fishermen-found-guilty-of-cheating-in-tournament/ I see a story like this about once a year. This was from a tue nite tourny too, not a bigger weekend one.

Silly MLF rule
Locally here, its in the tourny rules that winners can be subjected to a polygraph. Matter of fact, the polygraph techs, make far more money on weekends from working tourneys than they do on their regular pay. Usually about once a year, you hear about someone failing and being found guilty of cheating (often guntersville). Being found guilty also means a ban from most future tournaments, as well as a suspension of their fishing license and possible jail time and fines.

pfd vs flag - kayak question
As someone who fishes mostly from a boat, and some from a kayak, error on the side of caution and do both. Heck it wont hurt to put a wrap of high vis tape on your paddle ends to have something else visible to wave. From being in a boat at apeed, its hard to tell at times til you get closer what direction a kayak is facing/going. Its also harder to pick them out against shore, since they sit so low in water, and are often dull colors too. Its no diffrent than driving a car at 60, you can be right upon something before you realize it. Especially in a boat, where traffic can come at any direction, as well as making sure you are staying in deep enough water and away from underwater obstacles.

Knives and tools
I carry one of these and a small swiss army knife all the time. When im fiahing i always throw a pair of needle nose in my back pocket too. I have a large fixed blade knife in a sheath strapped to the rear seat pedastal in the boat. I often carry my hunting knife bank fishing. I also keep a pistol on me when bank fishing. Had a run in with a cottonmouth a few years back and carried since. If you want a multi-tool you can open knife on without unfolding tool, check out the bear and son bear jaws. It has the tools on the outside.

Line for jig/t-rig fishing (no braid)
It hung up everytime it got to tip eye for me. Alberto and fg both. Even when it would go through on a cast, it would either alter the aimpoint or cost distance or both. Its one of a few reasons i refuse to use any micro eye rod.

Silly MLF rule
Its to keep it even, so it doesnt become a team sport like nascar, where you work as a team to push the team as a whole to the top. Would it be as much fun to watch if you had a group like swindle, j lee, m lee, and strader working together and finishing as a group at the top every week, unless team palunik, kvd, omori, and howell knocks them off? It keeps,it an individual sport, where you bring your personal best and see if its good enough on your own. Most team tounament guys i know both bring their own boats to practice days, and fish diffrent ways and areas to try and dial in a pattern. One may fish offshore structure and points and other junk fish shallow, or one on south end and one on north end of lake and so on. It allows them to cover more water faster.

Second fish finder
I would reccomend a largest (in your budget) unit at console. When i am on plane, last thing i want to do is struggle to see what i need to see at speed. A larger unit allows me to glance down check my heading, depth, channel, etc quickly and easily so i can keep my eyes on water ahead of me. It also applies to idling around and graphing, the details come out better and are easier to see. On my front unit, im usually just glancing down to check depth so i dont run aground in skinny water, or zoomed in on map to make sure im close to waypoint on offshore fishing.

Line for jig/t-rig fishing (no braid)
I use 15# invisx on my worm rod and swim jigs 20# abrasx or sniper on my other 2 jig rods. I really love tatsu, but its over my budget normally. I tried braid and hated it. I had to use 30Ib just to be able to cast it decently. Then i would get hung up and either have to pull boat into where i was casting, or cut line and lose 10+ yds every time. Then after each hangup i would cast it out, watch it go 20ft out, go thunk, and have the jig come flying back at me. I was using a duckett at time, so leader wasnt an option either with the micro eyes.

Removing puck
Any tips on removing an existing puck that was epoxied to the hull? Picked up a pair of new mega-bird to replace my old hds. Ordered 2 unit connect kit that comes with a new through hull puck as well as ethernet connections for front and back units.

Difference between Jig & Worm rod vs. Flipping/Pitching rod
Another diffrence i noticed when i got my champion 765flip is the first eye is noticibly further down the blank than my other rods. I figured that its to aid in actual flipping, so you canb hold a bit more line in hand.

What do you want to master?
For me its not a lure per say, but a technique. Im working on akipping baits. Its what i have been practicing and woking on since christmas.

ElaZtech Storage
From my experience, i dont reccomend leaving them on the hook. I did that on one of mine and it rusted the hook, to the point it made it weak and broke on the hook bend instead of straightening out like normal. Since then i dont use superglue on mine, i just push it down a bit more, almost over the head and the hook keeper works better on its own.

To buy a Combo setup or Build your own???
If you are just starting out, a combo can save you some money and get you going and still be a good setup. As you fish more, you will gravitate more to buying rods and reels seperate. There are just so many more choices and better quality in seperate peices, but at a somewhat higher cost. You can dial it in to what you like, need, and prefer in a rod and reel as opposed to a stock combo.

Anyone use Plasti Dip on boat/trailer?
I havent used it on the boat or trailer, but i painted my truck wheels over 5 years ago with it. I have had no problems with it except for the machine scraped it off on the outer part of rim when i got new tires.
