  1. Since its white you can color it any color you want with a waterproof marker. I don't really think the fish care about line visibility. I've fished flouro and been outfished by guys with braid and I've fished braid with other guys fishing flouro when the bite was tough and neither of us got bites more than the other. I think putting the lure in front of a fish who is willing to bite is more important than what color your line is.Sufix 832 is probably the best braid out there.
  2. I have grown to prefer split grips for everything.
  3. 139$ for a Lews Tournament Pro at Sportmans Outfitters. IMHO nobody builds a reel close to it for that price. 20 lb carbon drag . externally adjustable 27 position centrifugal brake. Almost thumb free operation with great distance. And it's smooth as butter with brass gears.94 mm carbon handle. And you have money left over for line. https://www.sportsmansoutfitters.com/products/lews-tournament-pro-lfs-speed-spool-baitcast-fishing-reels
  4. Ipt on a spinning reel will be higher than a baitcaster of the same ratio due to spool diameter. I use a 6.8 to 1 for deep cranks. You can get reels with a 95 mm handle which gives you more torque and makes it easier.
  5. You have external dial for the magnetic section and adjustable pins for the centrifugal section. If you backlash at the front of the cast you need more centrifugal.if you fluff up in the middle you need more tension or more magnets.
  6. You don't have it together right or something is taking up the clearance. Worse comes to worse you could return it or send in for repair.
  7. I use vmc crankbait snaps and remove the split rings . less points of failure and baits run perfect that way. I have found its also good for walking baits.
  8. I fish.1/6oz ned rigs on a Lews Tournament Pro with a bass pro Patriot 7 ft medium rod with no issues. Reel can be had for $139 at Sportsmans Outfitters. You aren't getting a better deal than that and it's as smooth as can be. 27 position externally adjustable centrifugal brake is awesome.
  9. Rods have blanks now that are much lighter . Balance to me seems was better on the newer rods I have.I was one of those who thought it would result in top heaviness but on the newer blanks I don't see it.
  10. Has to be dirt. Use compressed air for a computer keyboard and blow it out clean and lube.
  11. I love split grips. Winn grips are my favorites. They are for making the rod lighter. In the beginning I didn't like them because I was old school. I have found them very addictive.
  12. I do it all the time. My wife thinks I'm nuts.
  13. Never had an issue I didn't cause.
  14. I use a 7-6 bps Johnny Morris signature series heavy extra fast action with 50 Sufix 832 braid for that. Have no problem casting 5 inch weightless senko and it will turn any bass around.
  15. So then any advantage of flourocarbon would be gone.
  16. Never buy a composite frame reel. Under heavy drag a spinning reel neck will twist. I've had 2 break years ago. If it isn't aluminum it's junk.
  17. Old trions were awesome. I had the round and the low profile ones. Can't comment on the new one. I would never buy a graphite framed reel. I have since moved on to Lews reels.
  18. I absolutely agree. I've used braid and flouro and never found a difference in bites. Line makes no difference. Your presentation does.
  19. 1. How it feels palming it because it has to be a baitcaster. 2. Drag has to be carbon and smooth. 3. Has to be an externally adjustable centrifugal brake. 4. Has to cast far without a bomb cast 5 . Has to cast Ned rigs easily. 6. Gears have to be buttery smooth. 7. Has to be a good value. 8. Has to weigh very little and have an aluminum frame. 9. Has to say Lew's on the side.
  20. Maybe he actually liked them.
