Your Height vs. Rod Length... does it matter?
Gotta disagree guys. If you fish from a boat that's not flat like a Bass boat and you're short , pitching can be harder with a longer rod.Any other technique I don't think it would matter.

How does a medium casting rod rate with you guys.
It depends on whose rod it is. I fish a Bass pro Patriot rod 7ft medium fast for exactly what you want to fish it for and love it. I also fish it in weeds. Still has enough backbone to do what I need. Fish 1/5 oz Ned rig on it.

Baitcaster break-off on cast
I've been using braid since the early 1990s. I've never had it break on a cast. Also never seen braid weakened from a backlash.its also the easiest to unbacklash.

832/super8 diameter
I used to get line dig in on anything less than 50 lb. Changed my brand of reel to Lews and now I get it done with 20 lb. Can't explain it except that is must wind on at a different crisscross rate.

Braided Line Selection
Personally I feel 4 carrier braid is outdated. I have no problems in weeds with 8 carrier. The benefits to 8 carrier far outweigh anything 4 carrier has going for it.suffix 832 is my braid of choice followed by tuff line domin8.

Braid recommendations?
Sufix 832 in yellow or neon lime. Skip the leader and color the last 8 feet with a permanent black marker. It will turn stealth gray.i use 20 lb on a Ned rig and catch plenty of fish.

Drag and Setting the Hook
I use all casting reels. I lock down the drag and if I'm fighting a fish on treble hooks I relax it as they get closer to the boat so they don't pull hooks. Today's reels with carbon drags are amazing.

No braid, no way.
Keeping the rod tip down or in the water lessens your upward pull keeping the fish down. You loose the fish when the line goes slack and they wing it back at you. Glad to be of help.

Baitcasting reels
Couldnt tell you but I've been fishing with baitcasters 35 years and the tournament pro imho is better than any other reel I've used.

No braid, no way.
Braid will not help you with treble hook lures. I use braid almost exclusively for the past 30 years. A longer rod will help. Don't horse the fish. Loosen your drag. Shove the rod tip down so your not making the fish jump. When it jumps bow to it keep the rod tip down and the line tight. The second you Gove it slack that fish will headshake and probably throw your lure.get a net.

Day of firsts broken rod
Isn't rodstill under st Croix's protection plan. I'd contact them. Doubt bass pro will warranty it. They will probably tell you to contact manufacturer.
