I don't know too much about that model but that is a great price. Most people will suggest that if you have a small budget that you should look for a higher end model that is used on Craigslist or something like that.

Being in Iowa I take a big break during the winter but will still get out about once a month to go trout fishing. The trout streams do not freeze over so I can get my fix in by doing that. Just yesterday I fished below a dam because there was open water. I didn't get a bite but it was nice to get out. During the warm season I try to get out once a week and fish multiple locations. I fish online kayak tourneys so I try to find places where there are big bass.

What's nice is that you would only need to put it on the track at night. Would be stored out of the way during the day.

The one in the link looks like it could work. Seems to have great reviews. I think I'd prefer the YakAttack light that I can just slide onto one of my gear tracks.

It's at the top of my list for paddle kayaks right now. I love everything I've seen and read about it. The weight is fantastic too.

I'm use to being in those spots so I've gotten pretty good at it. Beggars can't be choosers so I'm do it because I'm just happy to be there. I have no issue volunteering.

I was curious since the big tourney will be held there next month.

No fishing seasons here but I do have to wait for ice out. So far I'm at about $80 spent on tackle and a reel. Not too bad. Still have some big purchases coming up for my kayak though, like a new lithium battery and a truck bed extender to haul it.

Fish it multiple ways. You can cast and retrieve like a spinner. Retrieve it slow or fast. Use it like a jig, letting it sink and hop it on the bottom. Use a yo-yo type retrieve by letting it sink then pull it through the water then let it sink again. Most of my fish are caught on a normal retrieve like a spinner or they hit it as soon as it drops in the water. I cast it to the shoreline and try to find brush or trees. That's usually when they hit it right away.

The body of water your fishing can make a big difference as well. I know I can only cover so much water in a day on my kayak so it can take me days to cover a lot of area on one lake.

I'm always a non-boater so it makes no difference to me. There are plenty of times when there are three of us in the boat and I'm in the middle. I'm pretty versatile when it comes to casting.

I'll give it a try. I miss playing some of the old fishing games. I loved Black Bass on the NES and Bass Masters Classic on SNES.

My sister in law bought one last year. They are pretty slick looking actually.

My brother in law and I bought two. I don't really need one but I'm not passing up that price. Probably use it for larger fish. As for it being the previous design, that doesn't matter to me. I have one that's about 5 years old and love it so I'll take more of the same.

I would bet that all the guys you see on fishing shows are catching those same dinks, it's just part of fishing. The thing is, we don't see them catch those because it's all edited to where they only show the big fish. Makes it look like they are doing awesome and it also condenses the show into a half hour, with commercials maybe only 18 minutes of actual content. I can understand not having the time to watch though. It is a long show and is perfect for those of us up north who are stuck indoors during the winter. I record the show and enjoy watching it Sunday morning while I make breakfast and sit back to relax.

Last year was the first year I tried a jerk bait and I did stick to it early in the year. I caught a lot of fish on it and ordered more for this year. I will chalk that one up as a success for last year.

Not into realistic fishing? I've gotten tired of the "reality TV" type fishing shows that are filmed over a week and edited to look like they slaughtered monster bass in on day. I still watch them because it's still fishing but those shows feel more promotional than anything. Watching MLF makes me feel better about my fishing and lets me know that the pros struggle just as much as I do. That I shouldn't feel let down by a one pound bass but use it as a way to determine a pattern. It's entertaining, educational and a bit of a confidence booster for me.

Jigs were on my list of things to work on too but I found myself always using the same techniques that work for me. It seems I always spend most of my day throwing a chatterbait, crankbait, wacky rig or frog. I think the biggest issue is time. I usually only get out once a week if lucky and that's only when it's not winter so when I'm on the water I get too anxious and feel the need to use my confidence lures and catch fish. The other part of the problem is that I started fishing online tourneys last year and I struggle to spend time trying new things. Goal number one, go fishing more.

Last year I wanted to work on more finesse styles like the drop shot but I think I only tried it once. I want to work more on that and also a shaky head. I've got the gear, now just need to do it.

This is also something I need to work on. Grew up fishing small ponds with the deepest water only being around 10 feet. When I get on a big lake I stick to the shore because I have no idea how to fish deep. I need to use my electronics better for locating them would be the first step.

I think it all depends on how simple you want it to be and the regulations your state has. Where I live a kayak under 13 feet is not required to be registered but a jon boat would need to be. A jon boat most likely will require a trailer for transportation which also would need to be registered. A boat, motor and trailer require more maintenance than a kayak. These were all reasons why I wanted a kayak over a boat but I'm not like everyone else. I like to keep it simple.

I just love how everything on that kayak has been designed specifically for fishermen. So much thought went into it and you know it's meant to be customized any way you want. I haven't seen it in person yet but have watched a lot of videos on it. I've used YakAttack products and really like them. I see Chad Hoover fishing out of one and he's a big dude which lets you know it's very stable.

I've seen this design on a shirt before and love it.
