  1. Have any of you watched the latest Bass Talk Live yet? There was a very interesting idea about a Professional Team Fishing League. What are your thoughts?
  2. I'm fishing the KBF National Championship in March so I definitely have a list made. Being from Iowa I need a new arsenal of lures for fishing in Louisiana.
  3. Fishing Online has 20% for the weekend. Z-Man, Daiwa, Keitech and all rods. Code is fall20
  4. I will fish them a lot of different ways until I finally start getting hits then stick to that pattern. Sometimes it's really slow and sometimes it's really fast. Sometimes I need to start and stop it. Sometimes it works like a regular flipping jig. I have my best luck running them pretty quick and through submerged weeds. It can get old pulling weeds off almost every cast but when I hit a weed then rip it through I get a lot of bites. Caught all my biggest large and small mouth bass on the chatterbait.
  5. I just wear layers. I usually wear jeans or sweats with my rain pants over them. Then I will wear a long sleeve shirt with sweatshirt, maybe my rain jacket over the top. I like wearing the rain gear even when it's not raining to keep me protected from the wind and keep any dripping water off of me. I keep extra clothes in a dry bag just in case.
  6. That does look pretty awesome but in my opinion I don't consider it a kayak. I also don't think it really matters what you call it though. As long as it gets you on the water fishing and you enjoy it is all that really matters.
  7. Very true, but this is the sale thread so it makes sense that it would be a clearance item. I have a Gen 3 now and it's great.
  8. Academy Sports has the Abu Garcia Revo SX on sale for $79.98 right now. They also have some other Abu Garcia reels on sale. Great prices.
  9. That's where I plan to do most of my fishing. Booked my cabin for March already. So far I think I have a game plan but still need to come up with a back up plan if I need to try a new location.
  10. Anyone else have input on these lakes?
  11. When I was using the Yamamoto swimbaits for my chatterbait trailers I was going through a bag almost every outing. This year I switched to Z-Man and I don't think I went through a bad the entire summer. Elaztec is amazing.
  12. I have a Frontier 12 and use the CellBlok and Ram Mount. It works well.
  13. Have to try and eliminate as much water as possible. I like to throw chatterbaits, spinners and lipless cranks. These cover a lot of water. There are always specific areas I see where I will throw a top water frog or senko as well. Have to try shallow and deep. If I'm still struggling after all that then it's time for me to call it a day.
  14. I have an anchor and anchor trolley but haven't used it in a year. I almost always in pretty shallow water and prefer to use my stake out pole. I bought a cheap, 8' fiberglass garden stake off of Amazon and will tie the lanyard from my fish grips onto my kayak handle then clip onto the pole. Not only does it work great but it's very quick to get anchored and to pull up and move.
  15. I wouldn't invest too much money into this kayak. If you find that you really enjoy kayak fishing, which I'm sure you will, you're going to want to upgrade within a year. That kayak will get you on the water now but it's far from great fishing kayak, it's a good way to start though. An anchor trolley will help with holding you in the position you want but you'll still move around. I rarely ever use my anchor. A stake out pole is key for fishing shallow water. I bought an 8 foot fiberglass garden stake on Amazon for like $15 and it works perfect. I shove the stake into the mud or sand and then just use my fish grips to clip onto it. Very easy and keeps me in one place in some pretty strong winds.
  16. I'd love to fish Toledo Bend but I'm actually going to be fishing a tourney down there and we only have certain bodies of water we're allowed to fish. They are Caddo Lake, Cross Lake, Lake Bistineau, Red River, Wallace Lake and Cypress Bayou Reservoir.
  17. If you had a choice between Caddo or Cross in March which would you rather fish?
  18. Don't have to actually be old to have the "Get off my Lawn!" attitude. I've been guilty of it myself.
  19. When I read this thread I can't help but think of some old guy yelling "Get off my lawn!"
  20. I'm going to be there next March. Cross is also one I'm considering but after the research I've been doing it seems Caddo Lake is the top choice. Still lots of time to plan.
  21. I'm going to fishing around Shreveport, LA and curious which location is the best for catching bass. So far I'm considering Caddo Lake, Lake Bistineau and the Red River.
  22. I fished the river south of La Crosse on Friday and Saturday. Water temp was about 70 in the back water. The big bass were in about 2 foot of water and protecting beds. I caught a decent amount of nice bass over 17" all on a black/blue chatterbait.
  23. A couple months ago fisherman's factory outlet had the President reels discounted already and offered buy one get one 50% off as well. My brother-in-law and I bought two and split the total. Cost us each $27. I didn't even need one but couldn't pass up the price. It's still in it's packing in my basement.
  24. I have the Salt Armour ones. They always have great sales. I think I got 5 for $25 two years ago.
