  1. Awesome! Way to go FrogTog! Good to see people helping out one another.
  2. Tragic and sad. Hope the scum that did this are found and punished accordingly. Stupid.
  3. Great thread. For fishing in no particular order: Catch a rainbow on a fly floating the snake river through the Tetons Take Dad offshore fishing and watch him battle the biggest fish of his life See my little girl catch a big bass
  4. You may want to check these guys out. I bought some "toadsters" and grubs - very pleased with their stuff - heavy and well made. last order they threw some extras. One of the extras was their 10-1/2" trick worm. Very nice. http://myworld.ebay.com/152ndstreetbaits/ http://cgi.ebay.com/Hand-Poured-10-5-Inch-MONSTER-TRICK-COPPER-SUN_W0QQitemZ120133290963QQihZ002QQcategoryZ31691QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Have not seen them with the paddle tails. But, who knows. They might be willing to try something new. Eddie
  5. The Sammy's are hard to beat. I have tried other top water/surface lures recently and there is a difference. The LC's cast farther and are much easier to "walk the dog" with; the action is much tighter and compact. The finish is top notch. I have the "black bee" (?? - don't think that is the name but is a dark black) and Ghost shad and Ghost minnow. Would replace any of them with another Sammy if I lost them. Can't say that about the others I have. Eddie
  6. Ditto. Know the Dancin' eels will catch fish, but, never have for me. Never got so much as a nibble. I have watched the Bill Dance show 2x where he was using these. Nothing for me. I have/had (2) - shad and chartruese colored. I say had because the fish were really biting Saturday. Opened up my bag to try something different and noticed the eels in there. Thought this would be the perfect opportunity to break my mistake luck with them. Tied on the shad colored one, and just like that - poof - the fish stop biting. I fished it every way I know how - slow, fast, jerk, yo-yo, "dead stick" - nothing. The good news. After about 30 minutes of no bites I got it hung up on some sunken brush and lost it. I love Bill Dance, but, he needs to come show me how to fish this thing before I buy another one. Eddie
  7. Thanks for the link RW. That's the knot I have been trying to figure out today I love this site! I was watching bassmasters Sat. night and saw one of the guys tie an interesting knot. From what I could tell, he went through the ring, held the tag against the leader, then swung the lure, a crank, around the tag end; he literally swung it around about 5 or 6 times. Best I could tell he then took the tag and ran through at the bottom, then back up through the loop and tightened down. What interested me about this knot was that he talking to the camera the whole time and tied it in about 5-8 seconds. After watching this I played around with it some yesterday and about had it figured out. I was taking it back through the ring and was not tightening up as nice. Very nice knot. Not sure of the strength, would think it's pretty strong. Really like this knot. Eddie
  8. I'm with Paleo, I use both but seem to catch more on the $1 becaause I throw it more often. Have had no problems with bent wires, broken hooks or bad skirts.
  9. WOW! Maybe one day.......
  10. That is great! Good job.
  11. That is impressive. Agree with others, take the pictures and put him back. :'(
  12. I couldn't get past that first sentence. My wife would never let me go alone - that is just plain TROUBLE. Assume all bait monkeys have to be on a leash?
  13. Was very clear last weekend and I noticed groups of two or three large bass roaming together. Just cruising along the edge of the shore - was fortunate enough to land a couple. Have also noticed that it appears that similar sized fish will group together - not just the large ones - and cruise the shore line. Read once that large ones do this just behind, or around, smaller fish. The smaller fish go into areas to tight/shallow for the large ones. As minnows and other food run away from the smaller fish, the big ones ****** them up.
  14. What do you guys use to store your extra baitcasting and spinning spools? First thought was to put them in a 36xx plano, but, since I don't always take a big bag, think something smaller would be better. Something that would just hold one that I could toss in a smaller bag for pond & shore. Any thoughts, products, or ideas would be helpful. Thanks, Eddie

Glenn, no apologies are needed. This is the greatest site on the web for bassin' - period! Thanks for the effort. Just hang in there, buddy. This too shall pass. Like others, here for the long haul and will help however needed.
  16. I have heard paint ball guns are very effective. They are also good for jet fleas as well. Don't think I have the nerve to use one but have heard of some that have and are very effective. Agree with others, proabably best to report them, not as much fun as ripping off a few pait projectiles their way, but probably safer for everyone.
  17. Yes, I agree do not know if Ice Road Truckers will have staying power. Its pretty good right now. Enjoyed how they readied the rigs for -40F weather - that's just down right brutal. I too am addicted to Deadliest Catch. That show is awesome. Even the mrs. has started watching that with me. Enjoy Capt. Sig, his brother Edgar, Capt. John Hilstrand and Capt. Phil Harris - he's got some good boys there. We have also been really enjoying the "After the catch" shows. Very cool to see these guys off the boat and the respect they have for one another. All those guys are the kind you want as friends - they are for real.

All we have here in central NC is clay dirt - little more dense than sand and just as heavy - will that work? The problem is that if you leave it in your pockets, and your britches get washed, well, it may look like you had something else in your pocket.
  19. You're right guys - is a lot of fun. I had NEVER used one until this one and it is a lot of fun. Right on about that curve, IslandBass. The big one I lost last week, the pole was almost in a "U" - those little Pfluegers are tough. Really expected it to break, but it held tough. See why a lot of people like Pflueger. Hoping to get back out with it tomorrow. Eddie
  20. I agree, want to own one of everything. My problem is mainly lures though. I have accumulated about 8 rod/reel combos, which is know is nothing for some, but, am happy with them - just looking to upgrade ;D. Must admit I have the hots for one of those new Diawa Steez's. I am partial to Quantum, would love to mount a couple of the PTs on some Kistler's. But lures - ohmagosh - I have a low tolerance for the bait monkey when looking at lures: hard baits, soft baits, swim baits, chatter baits, spinners, buzz, plastic worms, plastic grubs, hawg tails, craw bugs, you name it, I want one of each in every color, pattern, weight and size. Cannot walk out of any store empty handed that sells lures. Having a laptop and watching fishing shows, is even more dangerous. Especially when they go into great detail of where and how you can buy the lure. I firmly believe what someone else has said - fishing is an addiction described as a hobby. Eddie
  21. Know there are some on here that watch deadliest catch. Wondering if anyone is watching this show (Ice Road Truckers). Appears to me to be the History channel's version of deadliest catch think it's even the same producers. Sitting at home sick and had the first few episodes of the show DVR'd. Watched them this AM and afternoon and are actually pretty good. Don't know if it will have the draw of Deadliest Catch, but, is entertaining. Is educational. Read about this a while back, but, not the same you see and hear the ice cracking and moving under these rigs, pretty eye opening. Especially when you consider they are driving on ice over lakes. Eddie
  22. Here's the story that was in the paper yesterday. http://www.newsobserver.com/news/story/624975.html It also mentions a snakehead being caught in a local lake as well. People are not too bright that do this. Of course, its propably some PETA or greenpeace person that no longer wants to deal with their "exotic" pet after they have shown it off to everyone.
  23. Agree. This is the best site on the web for bassin' - and discussing the finer points of mookology.
