  1. wow I'm surprised they gave you a discount in the current market. Feel free are made in Indonesia so it's probably just a warehouse in NC
  2. who is the seller? there's a lot of kayak related scams out there
  3. old town rebranded all of their fishing kayaks to "sportsman". predator 13/sportsman big water 132 hull is different than the topwater/sportsman 120. there's also a solo canoe under the sportsman name
  4. 1/4 should be fine, not sure about 3/8. I think you'd be better off with a medium in any other st croix line.
  5. I have that rod. It may be a tad light for what you're looking for. Even though it's a medium it almost feels like a medium light compared to my other st croix rods. I've been throwing 1/16oz jigs on it
  6. Spring is just getting started in the north. It's going to snow tomorrow. late april into may is what I consider spring
  7. pretty much all hardbaits other than topwaters
  8. yeah I get that. I also prefer to be in the boat not on top of it
  9. more people heading to Wisconsin now?
  10. the musky version has a normal depth cockpit with pedestal seats but you lose rear casting deck space.
  11. call your local dealers and see what they actually have available. If they dont have a specific boat in stock you'll be waiting until the fall to get it.
  12. penny wise pound foolish
  13. boat prices have been going up for 10 years since the financial crisis and consolidation of the industry. It's the low interest rates and 10-20 year loan terms that have been the main driver.
  14. Have you looked at the 1775 Impact SS? That's the most common model I see on Wisconsin lakes. I had to get the Rebel XL 1650 because it fit in my 20Ft garage
  15. sure you can but should you? they're both chinese knockoffs. good luck getting replacement parts when you blow up the pedal drive
  16. most of my spinning reels are the current generation President XT and I'm totally satisfied with them and no issues. usually I pick them up on sale for $50-60
  17. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer. I use left hand spinning and right hand baitcaster. My first BC was a hand me down so I didn't have a choice in retrieve hands but now that I'm used to it I wouldn't want to switch to a LH BC. One other thing to note is there are sometimes less choice in LH baitcasters in terms of gear ratios and sizes, although it has gotten better. I have noticed more LH on clearance than RH, so that would seem to indicate a smaller market for LH.
  18. Do you normally drive "city" miles and when you tow it's more highway? that would make sense if the mileage was about the same. I tow my 17ft Lund with a Chevy Traverse no problems, before that I had a 4 cylinder Nissan Frontier and got by OK on 6 hour trips. You don't always need a full size pickup to tow a boat, but make sure you read the manual to see the true towing capacity with and without trailer brakes. Most of the specs you see online are the best case scenario, without trailer brakes I've seen tow ratings go down to 1000-1500lbs
  19. My technique is come to a stop as much as possible before hitting spotlock, point bow into the wind and put the big motor down if possible to help rudder. If it's too shallow I use a stake out pole off the Stern in conjunction with the spot lock
  20. you dont think the tail on this looks like a boot? I've never seen a canoe or kayak paddle that shape. Zoom uses the preferred nomenclature FWIW
  21. Which one looks like a boot and which one looks like a paddle? Why would a paddle tail worm and swimbait have different tails. At some point in time the terms became interchangeable but boot tail is the correct description for a swing impact style bait
  22. I wouldn't recommended any tandem paddling kayak for fishing; too much frustration. If you add a trolling motor look at the Nucanoe frontier or unlimited.
