  1. I think I used solutions on a spincast reel once. My go to mono is Trilene XL. never experienced it breaking at the knot, I use the trilene knot with trilene ? the past few years I've been using Glen's spooling technique and soaking the spool in warm water. It works amazingly well at reducing memory and increase handling on a spinning reels. check out the video https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/how-to-spool-spinning-reel.html
  2. you should put down as little money as possible. Interest rates are at an all time low and there is no penalty to paying a loan off early. Keep your cash, cash in case you need it in an emergency. Hopefully you have at least 12 months of expenses saved in an emergency fund before buying a boat.
  3. how does the bixby handle weedy lakes? does the jet get clogged up?
  4. I like them, you really cant beat them for the price and getting a rod tube. My only complaint is the tip is not a true fast action, more moderate fast. Not sure if the new PQ2 rods are better in that regard. FWIW I also have a fenwick eagle travel rod and it seems to have the same moderate action tip. Just takes some getting used to; braid helps too
  5. i would take the Revo and Carbonlite. Carbonlites are well regarded and I've had good luck with Revo reels. you're basically getting the rod for free in that combo
  6. Bass Pro has 3 piece Pro Qualifier rods with a hard case on sale for $79. I have the older Extreme's but these are very similar. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-pro-qualifier-2-spinning-rod https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-pro-qualifier-2-casting-rod
  7. agreed, it's probably my most used rod. I also love the 7' MH premier casting rods
  8. trilene knot or palomar but palomar can waste a lot of line. uni to uni for connecting mono leader to braid
  9. what brand fluoro are you using and what knots do you use? I've mostly given up on fluoro and just use a mono leader
  10. even so It's costing a couple bucks per package to ship. They are overpriced; the buy 3 get 1 free gets them to about the normal cost of tackle warehouse, then the 20% off brings it down more. however I get hit with 10% sales tax in crook county, IL. I wanted to order from TW but they didn't have the tax sale this year Store G just shipped my 7th package today ? didnt work for me. likely only for select accounts
  11. I personally dont like an extra fast tip for wacky. my preferred rod is the Premier 6'6" medium fast (bass pro and cabelas carry a split grip version if you prefer that look). I pair it up with a 30 size Pflueger supreme or president xt spooled with 8lb trilene XL and recently started using the amazing VMC #1 weedless Neko hooks. you could also go with the Eyecon 6'6" medium fast "big water" rod (the reel seat/handle are really nice and comfortable on the Eyecons). A versatile option is the Mojo Bass 7'1" medium fast "plastics" rod if you want a longer rod that could also be used for light t-rigs (I have these in the casting models).
  12. are we talking skirted bass jigs or smaller plain jigs?
  13. Update: I placed a $200 tackle order at Dick's using the 20% off and all the buy 3 get 1 free deals. I'm up to 6 shipments so far and half the items haven't shipped yet. I ordered 4 Trokar bladed swimbait hooks and they are shipping a single one in 4 different packages. Dick's has the most messed up logistics I've ever seen. They have to be losing money on this order.
  14. placing 3 or 4 orders in that time period is only making the problem worse. figure out everything you want and do one large order if possible to limit the processing time
  15. I doubt it has anything to do with the color, you are just noticing it easier because the neon green has more contrast from your rod guides than the dark green
  16. I've never ordered a rod from Dick's but it seems they often ship from multiple sources instead of a single distribution center like TW does. Last year I had an order come in about 4 or 5 shipments from multiple stores, distribution center and they even drop shipped some items from pure fishing. I bet that rod was shipped from a random store that didnt have shipping tubes.
  17. never noticed it with 832 but I did have that happen with Pline TCB teflon coated braid. 832 does fade over time so it probably is shedding the color
  18. yeah I've never saw a 16ft boat rated over 100HP. probably looking at an 18 footer
  19. I think you only get 10% when you sign up. I did the $20 off 100 by signing up for texts.
  20. did you click through the email to get to their site? I'm not seeing the 20% off in cart
  21. I would assume the 2 people per boat only applies to state park lakes. The chain is mostly private so I dont see that they'd have the ability to enforce that rule.
  22. There's actually a meal replacement drink brand called Soylent now. I wonder how many people actually get the reference
  23. Tom, just exit this thread. you clearly have no idea of what a multi species deep V boat is. it's just as stable to stand at the bow as a bass boat. the deck is probably the same height, you just have more freeboard above the deck
  24. I have a Dig In with motor mount. just as effective as a power pole and just as convenient if you have a co-angler in the back of the boat to "throw down" as Catt says
  25. just get the PD V2 with spot lock and see if you like using a remote. you're in walleye country so you'll be able to sell it easily and get the ultrex or terrova. I use the remote 90% of the time on my terrova. you can set tracks and use auto pilot in addition to spot lock. that cuts down on the need for a foot pedal. however, if you fish docks most of the time you probably wont like it and need a pedal
