  1. actually that is not correct. Boot tail isn't a trademarked term. swing impacts and rage swimmer type swimbaits are technically boot tails. most people use paddle tail incorrectly. a paddle tail looks like this
  2. bent shafts FTW! I'd never go back to a straight shaft either.
  3. I've been a Wilderness systems owner for nearly 10 years. Ride, Tarpons and Commanders. By all accounts their pedal drive is trash. Check out the owners groups on FB. I just purchased a Nucanoe Flint which allows you to easily add a pedal drive or motor down the road. All Nucanoes have that option/ The pivot drive is newer and it too has mixed reviews but not as bad as wildy's. Old town and native are the best prop drives and hobie for fins. The vibe uses a knock off of the original hobie mirage drive (no longer under patent) and it too has bad reviews but I believe you can get a genuine mirage drive for it. Pelican also has a model that can use a mirage drive.
  4. for me, I mainly only kayak fish lakes and rivers that I cant get into with my boat. I also like the simplicity and exercise of paddling. When you start adding motors, electronics, and accessories to the point you need a trailer then you pretty much have a boat.
  5. Are you used to ugly sticks or fiberglass rods? I have had 2 Eyecons and 4 Premiers for many years and no breakage. are you "high sticking" when landing a fish?
  6. braid lasts multiple seasons and creates less waste than respooling mono multiple times per year. It can be cheaper in the long run I'd use Trilene XL unless you really need a lot of abrasion resistance, then I'd go XT or Siege. Not a fan of Big Game myself
  7. Since you are cartopping my vote would be the Flint. I would paddle it first before you decide you need a trolling motor. Paddling is the best part of kayaking IMO. Things are getting a little out of control with kayak motors and I wouldn't even consider one unless I was doing serious tournaments
  8. you posted the OP 2 years ago. Did you get anything since then?
  9. just make sure the seller has a title before you buy it. you used to be able to get away with saying it was a homemade trailer to get a title at the currency exchange but those days are gone.
  10. I feel pretty much the same way as you. I still enjoy listening to cornell solo, soundgarden and audioslave but I can barely listen to a nirvana or pearl jam song these days. Foos are still putting out great music
  11. It's just like southwest airlines. Almost everyone pays extra now for the early boarding that even if you check in immediately you are going to end up in the back of the plane. just pay the extra $5 to expedite the order and be done with it
  12. I got the 73MXF yesterday and it is super light. feels like a ML not a M. I havent had a chance to put a reel on it or use it yet
  13. Some of the casting models are rated up to 65lbs. so it looks like they are combining the mono and braid ratings. Is that really that odd of a number? I've seen a lot of rods measured to 1/8th or 1/16ths of an ounce. I'm hearing from people that got their rods last week that the power ratings on these are much different than the traditional st croix ratings. H is more like the old MH and MH is more like old M.
  14. 20lb braid seems an appropriate max for that rod. I doubt anyone would try 20lb mono on a ML
  15. yeah I'm tempted by the 7'3 MXF spinning rod but I'm also curious to see what the other yet to be released models look like
  16. Rods are available for purchase today at Bass Pro, TW and local retailers. for some reason bass pro only has the casting models
  17. hey, I wasn't the guy complaining about a $1 processing fee. where's your fishing report?
  18. Don't you have a bixpy motor on yours? Do you have those wings or whatever they call them to fix the tracking issue?
  19. OK what is your remedy then? Hope for a federal bailout or they allow a State to declare bankruptcy?
  20. I would take Jackson all day over bonafide. I've heard so many negative things about how bonafides paddle and track. they were designed purely for stability and looks. I would also check out nucanoe kayaks, you can paddle, pedal or power them. Since money isn't an issue and you want more stability, you are going to want a pedal or power yak
  21. well we had a chance to fix it and the voters turned down the graduated income tax. once the pandemic is over everyone's taxes are going up, just wait
  22. I have had the opposite experience. love Revo's and hated the one Lew's I tried.
  23. yeah I know, just pointing it out. I'm keeping my boat in Wisconsin now, so I might transfer the trailer registration
  24. 2-4 rods. 2 flush mount rod holders and 3 in a crate. I also dont use trebles anymore on the kayak like someone else mentioned.
