  1. the 3.8's fit in the plano wrap. I havent tried filling it all with keitechs though. usually just bring 4 packs on the kayak https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Plano_Z-Series_Lure_Wrap/descpage-PZWR.html?from=basres
  2. there are at least two companies making that now. Torqeedo and Pure Watercraft. It's expensive though.
  3. here's my list of affordable American made paddle kayaks: Lifetime Teton - best $300 kayak. Lifetime Yukon - best budget kayak you can stand in Perception Pescador Pro - good all around kayak. some can stand in it Native Ultimate 12 - best hybrid kayak. some can stand in it. Wilderness Systems Tarpon 120 - fastest kayak on the list. cannot stand in it. an old standard recently updated Nucanoe Flint - open deck for standing. can add motor or pedal drive later on Old Town Topwater/Sportsman 120 - most stable on the list. set up well for fishing
  4. get a kayak. that will really open up your possibilities. the best bank fishing lakes are retention ponds. use google earth and check out as many as you can.
  5. the feds track how much pseudo you buy by scanning your ID. The stuff on the shelves is not as effective as the kind you get behind the counter. all trailer plates went up $100. so if you have a single axle it went to $118. they were lazy and really didnt think that one through.

my local stores are down to about 4 fishing aisles. when they first opened 10 years ago they had almost double. seems they have cut down the number of brands and species. The musky aisle is gone, panfish and catfish is minimal, the st croix displays are gone. They seem to be going all in with Googan and Z-man.
  7. You're leaving line stretch out of the equation. 12lb mono on a MH/F rod works well for me because the line has a good amount of stretch. bump that up to 20lb mono/fluoro or braid and that's where a moderate fast comes into play. Also a lot of these newer chatter rods are heavy power with the moderate action, the hookset is not an issue
  8. dang, I thought it was just for licenses. I renewed my plates a couple weeks ago. probably could have made it through most of the season on expired plates if JB gets his way My DL expired last month. Tried to buy Sudafed at the pharmacy last week and they rejected me. their system cant scan an expired license. Pretty sure I have a relatively mild case of COVID. Knocked me on I disagree for two days this week and I'm still not over it. Now I'm running low on the medicine I need to cope with the symptoms. Anyone know anyone with pseudo?
  9. I had an awesome day last spring with a white fluke on a jackhammer.
  10. agreed on not using the ratchet straps. and that's a heavy kayak. I wouldn't trust PVC. invest in a real rack or put them on their sides so you fit both on the truck bed for gear, start with the bare minimum and figure out what you want and where you want it. NRS chinook is the consensus choice for a fishing PFD. They are 20% off now at Austin Kayak. they also have the BB paddles on sale as well. Consider a telescoping paddle so you can dial in the best length for you. Paddle leash and yak grips are nice to have too
  11. what kind of worm are you using? ML is too light for a 5" senko
  12. read your owners manual. the towing capacity without trailer brakes is probably only 1500lbs.
  13. I dont have any personal experience with this reel but a guy on a local forum recommended the kastking brutus https://www.amazon.com/KastKing-Spincast-Fishing-Reversible-Casting/dp/B07VQYV8TW/ref=sr_1_3?crid=AVQ7CTBL04W3&dchild=1&keywords=kastking+spincast&qid=1589378121&sprefix=kastking+spnca%2Caps%2C206&sr=8-3 my 88 yr old grandma uses a Zebco Omega Pro and I've not been impressed. she had a lot of break offs last year fishing for smallies. the drag is almost useless. I bought the Zebco bullet but that thing is way too heavy even for me
  14. If you run into a lot of pike, the razor shadz could be worth it. The downside is you have to be careful when you store them and dont put them in a box with regular plastics.
  15. Yeah I'm just giving you a hard time. Not a lot of love around here for Revos. I've had very good luck with Gen 1 and Gen 3 Revos. picked up a Gen 4 Revo X inshore last year and so far so good. Personally I cant stand the cast control location on Daiwa and the one Lew's I had was terrible and sold it. I have some of the old silver Johnny Morris Signatures and they were good but heavy by today's standards.
  16. Finally got out and on the board this week. 2 LMB on Sunday and 3 LMB on Thursday.
  17. I love Abu Revos and St Croix but have to poke a serious hole in your story. You complained about the Johnny Morris reels giving up after a few weeks but you are sure that the Revos will be great for years to come after just one day of use?
  18. I had a crawdad about 10 years ago. All we did was replace the wood floors and seats. If you put some nice swivel seats on it that would be nice. For trolling motor 12 volts is fine. the only way I'd do two batteries is if you went lithium due to the weight. I dont know how you'd do a bow mount with foot control in that boat without some serious mods. You could reverse the handle so you could use the hand controls in front like some saltwater boats.
  19. I've tried that. it still catches on the tape I used to do it this way if I had someone to hold the spool. I'll have to rig something up to do it myself.
  20. that's not the issue. sufix spools have a notch in them that the line catches in if you try to spool with it on the floor.
  21. that's my problem. I just lay the spool on the floor.
  22. I have two of the full grip ST Croix Premiers in the 7ft MH and they are excellent. If the split grip is on sale now it's a no brainer. Made in the USA too
  23. I know and fish the lake you are talking about. I don't think it's really a secret, it's one of only the only local lakes that has public access. But yeah I agree the pics of walleyes will definitely attract some meat eaters. The forest preserve lakes get a lot more pressure and I catch nice fish out of them.
  24. I doubt it's exactly the same. Pure Fishing has a lot of brands and lines under each brand. Possibly a renamed spiderwire or stren formula or something else now defunct. Solutions also only comes in a few tests compared to trilene love siege on my casting reels but something about the sufix filler spools that makes it impossible for me to spool onto spinning reels
  25. Lake County Sheriff clarified today. They aren't going to stop families but dont want people going out with friends. Not sure how they can really differentiate though. You're probably good unless you are partying on the chain and attracting attention
