  1. I've had the opposite experience. My VMC jigs with single wire keeper destroy the heads of the baits. I like the strike king squadron jigs the best. Haven't tried gluing yet but I will
  2. I know this is an old post but I had a similar experience this year. Had a carbon shaft aquabound paddle for 6 years and it was good but I stumbled upon a AT Exodus Fishstix on clearance for $150 (normally $400). It's so much better than the aquabound. I don't know if it's the bent shaft or full carbon construction that makes it so much more efficient and better on my bum shoulders. It's hard to go back to a straight shaft paddle now
  3. I get what you're saying but he's got a 10 year old car and a light cheap kayak. Money would be better spent elsewhere than putting $300+ into a custom fit rack system.
  4. Mojo bass 610mxf Eyecon 70mlf
  5. Just get the Malone handirack for around $100, that's what I'm using
  6. St Croix Eyecon has the most comfortable handle I've ever used in a spinning rod. They make a 66mf and a 68mxf I don't know how anyone can use a daiwa tatula with the rough cast control knob sticking out in front. Revos feel perfect to me
  7. Do you already have cross bars? You don't really need a j cradle or anything else to transport one kayak. Just strap it down
  8. The bass x are basically the old Mojo's. I'd also consider the Eyecon, it's a really nice rod even though it's designed for walleye
  9. Looks like I missed out on the extra 10% off. Probably won't buy one for now
  10. I had the same mentality when I started kayak fishing. I was afraid I'd lose a rod overboard. After 7+ years I haven't lost any and don't leash them either. The only time I use a cheaper rod is on a smaller river because I've come close to breaking them trying to free a snag in current.
  11. I will add keitech, vmc and Yamamoto to that list. So many people are wrongly dissing TW because they are running less sales but they're everyday prices are the best I've seen and selection can't be beat
  12. On sale now for $68 plus 10% directly from Fenwick. Wondering if the 6'8" MH-MF would be a decent spinnerbait/chatter bait rod? I'm normally a St Croix guy but I do have 3 Fenwick Silverhawks that I really like.
  13. 30 size Pflueger or 2500 daiwa or Shimano. President XT is $66 on Amazon now
  14. 8lb trilene XL is what we use for wacky senkos Also that seems like a very unbalanced setup you're running. 4000 reel on a medium light rod?
  15. going back to the OP's question, a kayak = zero maintenance. just saying, dont need to be a mechanic to get out on the water
  16. these are budget yaks but in your price range https://www.farmandfleet.com/products/1213370-lifetime-11-6-yukon-kayak.html https://www.farmandfleet.com/products/1030834-emotion-stealth-pro-angler-kayak.html a bit of a drive for you but just shows you can get a good used wilderness systems and other brand name kayaks under your budget. I recently purchased a WS commander 120 for $500 for my father in law https://swmi.craigslist.org/boa/d/benton-harbor-tarpon-120-fishing-kayak/6928455842.html
  17. Can't go 60 if it doesn't start. I'll stick with my 5yr old Lund with a 4 stroke and terrova ipilot. Plus my kayaks
  18. These racks are the best. Look for them to be on sale during prime day
  19. I stand corrected. In spinning rods they have a 2 piece for just about everything.
  20. I'd say it's almost the opposite. A lot of big boys buying kayaks and wanting to stand in them. Probably why all the newer boats are barges and set up for motors or pedals. I'd rather have a nice kayak than a 20+ year old glitter rocket with a crappy two stroke carbed motor.
  21. I would stick with the Premier. You'll have more choices of length and power than other models and brands. Plus made in the USA unlike the mojo. I have Revo reels on my Premier rods
  22. I have both and use them for different waters. Kayak for small rivers and no motor and carry in lakes. I don't like kayak fishing on busy lakes with power boaters. Maybe if I had a big stable Hobie pro angler or similar with pedals or torqueedo motor it would be ok
  23. Definitely would go with a medium light. Personally I've been using a 7' medium light St Croix Eyecon rod with a 30 size Pflueger supreme. 10lb hi vis braid with 6lb fluorocarbon leader
  24. Still angry about Kap? ? If you have extra wide feet like me, you pretty much have to get Asics or New Balance. And the ones that have good support for over pronation are $100+
  25. Pflueger supreme is $65 now on pfluegers site
