Chatterbait
I didn't have much luck with them until this spring. That was when I experimented with trailers. I'd try a regular fluke and craw style trailers if you aren't getting bit on a boot tail. Try matching and contrasting color trailers with the skirt color. Do you get bit throwing the keitech on a plane jighead or swimjig?

President xt or supreme in size 30. Worth spending a little more than the regular president for the weight savings

7'6" MLXF Spinning Rod - Best Uses
SCII is plenty sensitive. True Ned rigging isn't a bottom contact presentation. Most of my fish come on a no feel retrieve or dead sticking and watching my hi vis line for movement. You'll keep fish pinned better on the medium light than the medium

New boat help. Is t worth it for the extra foot
The only reason they make the 1675 is to fit in a 20ft deep garage. The beam is the same as the 1775. I have about 6" to spare in my garage with my 1650 rebel XL

St. Croix guys.....your thought on this
I'm a fan of the Eyecon series. I'm using the 7mlf for ned rig, grubs, drop shot, small mepps and even slip bobbers for crappie. I believe they are finally upgrading them to SCIII next year, so look for the current models to go on clearance soon. Also if you compare a 6'6" and 6'8" rod side by side and line up the reel seats, they are almost identical. Half the extra length is usually in the handle

tow vehicle.
I'm towing a similar sized boat with a 2018 Chevy traverse 6cyl AWD with towing package. I don't even feel the boat behind me. Brakes are ok but I'd want trailer brakes for anything heavier

Finesse setup?
my traditional ned rig (1/15oz jig) rod is a 7' MLF St Croix Eyecon. 30 size Pflueger reel, I like the supreme or president XT. the regular president is too heavy and slower gear ratio than the xt and supreme. 10lb sufix 832 hi vis and a 6lb mono or copoly leader.

More versatile spinning rod
Unless you don't know how to use a bait caster, the medium is the best option. My St Croix Premier 66mf are great all around rods

Alumacraft Escape 165 - Need advice for 1st boat
I had a 2010 Alumacraft Lunker 165 SC. Same hull as the Escape but slightly different layout inside (livewell was on the port side). It had a 25hp Yamaha 4 stroke. Topped out at about 18mph and wouldn't get on plane. A 4 blade prop might have helped get it on plane better. The escape has a better layout and probably better weight distribution. If you can live with that it's a good boat. I traded mine in for a bigger Lund. You should also consider the Lund Fury, it's narrower so should be faster with a 20hp. I'd also go with a tiller in this size beam boat, it'll seem like a much bigger boat than with a console

New to Muskies...Braided or Mono?
This thread is 12 years old

Bass vs pike ratio
Doug Strange from in fisherman advocates for using braid mainline to a long fluoro leader and a short section of tieable leader connected to the lure. A local guide recommends a 20lb fluoro leader to eliminate most break offs by pike If I'm fishing a moving bait in high density pike and musky water I'll usually use a premade pike or musky leader with snap and swivel. Straight wire or 100+lb fluorocarbon

Recommended Car Rack for a kayak?
That's pretty much the same thing as the handirack except it is foam instead of inflatable. I'd still get the hood and trunk loops so you can do a bow and stern tiedown
