  1. I think gamakatsu japan slowly moved away from bass tackles and focusing on saltwater stuff which is their forte. Oltres are beautifully built with top end components. But I feel they have been kinda overhyped here in the states.
  2. Aldebaran MG7 with Yumeya shallow spool + Luxxe Oltre 67M
  3. These rods, most fishing rods sold in the US are coming in containers from China, not japan.
  4. Length.. At least 7'3, longer the better for casting with long leader and hookset. MH to H with slightly slower taper for better leader( i use mostly 10-12lb) protection. I even use a rod close to 9ft for it.
  5. Tightening down or loosening the oil injection cap does nothing, at least for me. Interesting if it has made a difference for some.
  6. Only knot i use for fluoro
  7. Mine does the same thing when i reel in a little fast with more resistance rig/baits. I always thought it was the spool rattling since there's no pinion shaft and spool sits kinda loose in mine. I changed the palming plate bearing to a zpi bearing and it eliminated some of side to side play and feels a little better. Super annoying
  8. Alphas sv tw spool won't fit in any other daiwas
  9. I would contact st croix first to see if they can send you a replacement tip top first. If not they will at least provide you with the correct insert/tube size. It's not extremely difficult to replace tip top at home but just be careful not to overheat as it can damage the tip on the blank. You can always call your local tackle shops to see if they can replace it for you.
  10. Yea you can try birchwood if it's black. It won't necessarily fix it but will darken it and that's about the best you can do i think.
  11. Dobyns rods were never manufactured here. They are OEM by JS company in korea. GSM probably ordered retail store branded rods from them.
  12. Specs may say the same but two completely different rods. MH is noticeably more stiffer and powerful. It's the C610M on steroid. Funny i sold my 610m when I saw 611mh was being released since 610m felt closer to MH so i was like i might as well just get the actual MH, then turns out may be i should have just held onto 610m.
  13. I have one. If you have tried the 73H this is the little brother of it, shorter and less powerful. I also have steez Fury C70H-sv•st and these two are near identical in terms of power and action. The blank and solid tip of 71mh-sv•st have slight more tensions. Sensitivity are all about the same IMO, may be one's better than the other? I'm not one of those that likes to get into "my rod is so sensitive" pissn contest. I just sold my 611mh-sv to a friend, so far my experience with tubular tip rods of real control series hasn't been great. Not that they are not good, they were just not what i had expected them to be, a little too stiff and powerful especially the 611mh. These rods are different from your typical JDM rods as they are designed with Kyoya's visions for fishing American tournaments.
  14. Yes performance upgrade to some degrees, better components. But it's mostly personal satisfaction and some good ole bragging rights thing.
  15. They are wrapped/assembled in USA, blanks are sourced from overseas now if you call that a decline. I believe this isn't the first time kistler using blanks from overseas.
  16. 25 CT LTD is not SV boost, just shallow normal SV Spool. There is no 30mm boost spool available.
  17. Yes they do take a little longer to ship now, i think they hold everything until Wednesday or Thursday to ship them. Sucks because they used to be really fast but still can't beat their overall pricing and free gifts with reel purchase. I used to email the person in charge and pre-order rods all the time, but since she left like 4 years ago, the new person came through only once and i stopped bothering.
  18. MH fast will cover a lot of stuff. As for it being your first baitcaster setup, a M fast rod will be easier to cast and learn with and still cover a lot of stuff as well.
  19. 7 ratio for retrieve and yoyo both, 8 ratio for strictly yoyo.
  20. Sunline Sniper for best value. I spool up with Sunline Super FC when i know I'm going to break off and retie a lot and probably have to respool for the next trip. I always buy a few when they are on sale.
  21. Since 2021 all daiwa japan bass rods are either grip joints or center cut 2 piece for lower shipping cost and easier warranty service. Most Daiwa USA rods are still one piece, but yea a lot of them the blanks do not run through reel seat. Even split grip, they are assembled separately. The older steez rods with air beam seat didn't have blanks run through it either.
  22. 73H has faster taper and short stiff solid tip which actually loads up and casts very nicely, i really like that rod. still haven't caught anything with 611mh so can't say if the power band is the same but they sure feel like it. I also have the 71mh-st but still haven't gotten a chance to fish it. From just playing around with it, feels and bends near identical to steez fury c70h-st, solid tip is shorter but may be tad bit stiffer than the one on fury. Fury is rated H power but it definitely fishes like MH to me.
  23. Definitely feels more like a classic jig and worm stick, even frogging. This is not one of those typical JDM versatile JDM MH rods. I should have known this because RC 610M was stiff/powerful too for M power rod to be used for jerkbait and treble hook baits.
  24. Have you fished it yet? It's a little too stiff/powerful than i would have liked it to be. Still trying to figure out what I'm going to use it for.
  25. Since everyone is posting mostly their shimano/loomis, here's the two i have Scorpion mg 1000/chronarch 50 mg hybrid and Metanium mg7 sitting on original wiebe seat glx 783 and 844
