  1. Just came back from spending some time with the Okuma X-series 73H i picked up from the sale. I probably wouldn't pay retail for one but for how much i got it for, I'm satisfied.
  2. Use a small amount just enough for cork to absorb and prevent fillers from coming off. That won't change the feel or create slippery coat, i don't like that either.
  3. Wouldn't worry about it. Fuji Sic and alconites are the best in the industry.
  4. This was around the time black widow production rods just came out and they were heavily marketing HM as the next greatest blank ever. You go to their website and read HM or X-ray description and see "by the way our IM is just as good and cost about the half". It was a classic bait and switch tactic. It was probably me lol man it was ridiculous after spending like $1000...i ordered two Gucci bags and got Coach bags instead and they had the nerve to tell me they sent me Coach because they think it's just as good as Gucci. Does that make sense? Lol
  5. When TW carried Black Widows, i ordered two during the sale once. When they arrived i noticed they were IM blanks, not HM. I emailed NFC and after some bafk and forth with Collin, I sent them back to TW for refunds. He pretty much said IM is jis as good as HM and Gary Loomis builds however he wants each day. I was like yea not paying $500 per rod for this BS lol
  6. Ok i wasn't aware it's a rod, thought it was a reel and for some reason i thought it was sent back to japan lure shop. Sorry
  7. UPS probably decided they wanted to check the origin of aluminum of the goods and JLS most likely didn't declare on the shipping info. May be it was a good thing this happened and it got sent back as you would've gotten hit with another 50% duty.
  8. It was pretty norm before especially with high modulus carbon prepreg, new and improved rollers squeezing so hard, it was impossible to make them straight like Indian hair.
  9. Your best bet will be EBay or some sort of. Typically Doyo are not sold outside of Korea. I see some overseas website selling them but i don't know if they are legit.
  10. It's all personal satisfaction. People buy, spend money on stuff they like. Also i don't worry about how other people spend their money like on g loomis just because i don't care for it. That's just weird.
  11. Mixed feelings on tubular tip models (610M and 611MH), no complaints on solid tip models (71MH and 73H) I really like the 73H, more versatile, cast great, hooksets feel awesome if you like crossing eyes
  12. No this is for shimano north america. Let's not turn this into another "i buy from japan"
  13. Now we are done crying over Daiwa price increase, here's how much shimano will increase on their products.
  14. Talking about g loomis rods made by Gary loomis/pre shimano g loomis, as for imx/glx MBR/SJR/CR, the longest were 78inch (6ft6in) and had wiebe seat and pac bay guides. Gary did make slightly longer MBR in IM6 and Premiere series which were either telescopic or multi piece. 7ft glx/imx MBR models weren't released until transition period, very few had pac bay guide trains, first changes shimano made during transition period were to fuji guide trains, then fuji reel seats around 2003. So IMO if your pre shimano g loomis doesn't have wiebe seat and pac bay guides, it's not a pre shimano g loomis.
  15. So who's going to be the first to buy the newly added $1000 poison ultima to have "this is the most sensitive rod ever!" moment on the internet 😂
  16. Tuned Scorpion Mg 1000/OG 843 GLX I fish mostly Daiwa but love me some old school shimano/loomis pairings, brings back memories.
  17. T rig with 3/16-1/4 oz weights, 5-6inch senkos, 1/2-5/8 oz Carolina rig. You can even throw spinnerbait and lipless with it, pretty versatile stick.
  18. I had the 7'5" inch MH Cory Johnston rod, it's a good open water style texas rig rod even with its squish tip. I believe Cory wanted a rod similar to loomis 893 and this one is it. Plenty of backbone when setting the hook and enough sensitivity. Also keep in mind the two 7'5" Cory Johnston rods have 11 guides minus tip top, that's 3 more than most other tatula elite rods, but priced the same considering extra components and labors, especially 7'5" MH AGS rod.
  19. I have had several SV spools with type-r spring mod done, i think I'll keep CT spools stock since they work fine for what i intend on using it for.
  20. Do it. I sold my older CT to replace it with the Ltd. I can appreciate the minor upgrades and the bling bling look.
  21. Picked up the CT ltd early this year, used it with ct sv700 deep spool on a couple of trips then put it away. Had some free time yesterday morning, decided to hit the pond/swamp so i could try it out with stock spool. It's an SV spool so the start-up speed isn't as good as bfs spools but a very capable caster, good distance and control.
  22. 852 Loomis works great for smaller weightless softbaits.
