  1. Nice. The Pop Max colors are ones I have never seen before... Awesome.
  2. Anything big fished slow. IMHO, once it's cold the bigger fish go deep and tend to inhale baits gently using as little energy as possible. So I like to use big jerkbaits, large (but not huge) soft-paddle tail swimbaits and jigs with a larger trailer and I fish them really slow. I think the key is to find the fish first. If you find bait fish, somewhere close by are bass.
  3. The guy I fish with each week has 4 of them. Some are in better condition than others but they still work great and catch a lot of fish.
  4. Kind of my philosophy. I always thought when a pro fisherman puts their name on a reel it's just a gimmick to cash in on. Generally the quality is compromised on the product and the pros are left to keep pedaling it. To me when I see someones name on a reel, a rod, or especially a bait, I am inclined to walk the other way..... Of course I say that and I just bought 2 Quantum KVD Tour Rods. I have yet to find an issue with them. I would definitely would not have payed the regular retail price though. But for what I payed for them, they have been a lot of fun to fish.
  5. Not that I have ever seen. Usually Shimano, Daiwa, St. Croix, and G. Loomis are excluded (plus many others). I bought my DC at Dicks during a customer appreciation sale and got it for $199.00.
  6. I have the same rod and with the older Calcutta 251. Works great. I use it for just about anything and everything.
  7. G. Loomis 783C GLX and a Shimano Core 101MG.
  8. I had one a few years ago. I never caught anything on it, not one fish. I ended up getting snag one day and donated it to Davy Jones Locker. One of the only baits I thought would be a bass magnet and it ended up being a total dud.
  9. I don't think there is. I could be wrong but the RC series was originally made for Bass Pro Shop and it expanded from there. I thought it coincided with a Rick Clunn series of equipment. The baits as I remember were not well received as they seemed cheaper than the other Lucky Craft baits at the same price. I think after they were discontinued BPS came out with a XPS crankbait that was almost identical. The Lucky Craft LC DD DRS maybe the closest.
  10. Smackdown is the smoothest I have used but Power Pro is still my favorite.
  11. Looks cool. I don't know how KastKing fans will respond to the higher price tag considering their other offerings are about half the price but if it's worth it, why not.
  12. Oddly enough, I did the same thing. For free, why not.
  13. https://www.amazon.com/Shimano-Curado-Baitcast-Fishing-CU200XGK/dp/B07453C64P/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?keywords=curado+k&qid=1573535787&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyMTJRRUJNNFFSMVNDJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMDUwNTc2Uk5FOEVWVVBaV0ZWJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAxODU2OTlZQzVKUzRNVUxWWEomd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGYmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl
  14. I have the Curado K and the DC. If I had to choose, they are both great but the DC is definitely worth the extra cost. Great reel and just fun to fish.
  15. For jerkbaits, soft tip stiff bottom. My favorite is the G. Loomis GLX 783C but obviously not under a $100. I did just buy a Quantum KVD Tour 7'4'' Heavy and it has a softish tip. I would guess that the M or MH in this rod line up would be just about right and they can be found for under $100.
  16. Fishweather is pretty cool. It's more info than I will ever use but a great resource none the less.. https://www.fishweather.com/spot/18009
  17. They kind of do but not in a regular search. Only at checkout.
  18. I should have been a little more detailed in my comment Sorry...... Nothing wrong with it being shorter rod. I too have a 6'6'' G. Loomis that I use from a kayak for cranks. It's just if I was going to add another crankbait rod, it's probably going to be around 7'.
  19. That's a good deal. I remember checking these out last year and it's not a bad rod. My only thing would be, I would be looking for something longer in a crankbait rod. I also picked up a new crankbait rod at the same price. I got a Quantum KVD Tour 7'10'' MH. It's not as good as the St.Croix Legend Glass but for $60 it will toss a crankbait a mile and it's just flat out fun to fish.
  20. I have a St. Croix Legend Glass that is fantastic. If I had the cash I would would buy a few more. I have tried several different crankbait rods over the years and this one is about the best technique specific rod I have used. I would say the only down side is the weight and it is overall diameter but they don't seem to bother me or the fish I catch at all.
  21. Awesome fish and if I read that correctly you caught this on a shad you had caught earlier using a drop shot set up. In my book, that makes it an even better catch. Congrats
  22. I tried some white braid in the past (Powerpro?) and it didn't stay white for long. As soon as I fished it stained water, it turned brown/green. It wasn't a big deal but I went back to the traditional green tint when it was time to change.
  23. Jigs and soft plastic > 12lb Invizx Crankbaits > varies on rod.... 12lb Invizx and 12lb CXX Topwater > 15lb Sunline Natural or 50lb Briad Jerkbaits > 12lb Invizx All Spinning gear > 6lb Trilene XL 100% FC
  24. I fell victim once again........ Some of this was from earlier this year but haven't posted anything on the reels yet (reviews/thoughts coming on a lot of stuff). There was also an Abu Garcia Revo Toro Beast that the monkey got me for.
  25. 7^ Nice but not my thing. This one always makes me laugh.....
