  1. Booyah and Spro been my favorite so far.
  2. I would keep the rod you have and get a separate rod. At that depth and with that amount of wobble in that crankbait, you probably don't want or need a very sensitive or expensive rod. You might look at the Okuma TCS rods. They have 2 models that are able to up to 2oz. Amazon has them for around $110 or less. I was considering this rod for kind of the same reason as you, swimbaits and deep, heavy cranks and decided that this technique was not for me just yet (big swimbaits that is).
  3. Shimano has been my favorite but I also use Ardent. I am not a fan of Hot Sauce.
  4. That is nice old bait. I would leave it in the package and bring it out anytime you want to play "Remember When......".
  5. Went to my local DSG today and they had all of their clearance stuff buy 5 get 5 free. I picked up 5 Strike King Crankbaits for a $3.47 each, 2 GYCB spinnerbaits, and 3 bags of Berkley Power Worms, all for under $20.
  6. Yap. I have a 7'4'' ML Fenwick Elite Tech that I use for drop shot.
  7. I have seen guys use a 7' St. Croix Yak rod with great success for this sort of thing but I don't care for the weird grip material.
  8. I use braid but prefer FC for most fishing. I don't dislike braid, I just feel it is a technique specific line >heavy cover, topwater, etc). FC I like for all soft plastic, jigs, and crankbaits.
  9. Amazon and Tackle Warehouse has always worked for me. There several great good lines that come in bulk spools (Big Game, P Line CXX, Invizx, Yo Zuri Hybird just to name a few). It varies on which one is better with cutting down on the initial memory. Some spools are so wide that they have the same diameter as the smaller filler spools.
  10. 12lb Sunline Natural or 12lb Invizx (I like FC for deeper cranks)
  11. I should introduce you to my neighbors........
  12. This is the closest thing I could find. It's not the correct color.... It's from a company called Revenge. They are calling them Swimbait Hedz.
  13. Not yet. Hopefully it is an improvement over their other braided line offerings. Personally I like PowerPro, Sufix 832, and Seaguar's versions.
  14. I like GYCB single tail grub. I caught a ton of crappie and large mouth. I also like Berkley's Power Grub. Just about any color seems to work in cold water/early spring.
  15. Black with blue flake for most water conditions Green pumpkin black flake when black and blue flake is not working
  16. G Loomis GLX 844C or 843C. I have the 844 and it is rated as heavy but it is more of a MH. I also have the 783C. If I had to choose one for over all general purpose I like the 844 but from a kayak the shorter 783 might be better. I have used both for all kinds of stuff both are sensitive and have some hook setting power. I have used them for crankbaits but they may be too sensitive for that technique.
  17. I would say $250. I have the 101 and it is my personal favorite. I would love to get my hands on the 51.
  18. I use on 3 different setups. I have the 6lb, 10lb and 15lb versions. All are pretty good. My only complaint is that the 6lb develops memory pretty quickly and can sometimes be unmanageable.
  19. I think this stuff works it's best when the line is at the end of its life or is just bad from the get go. If the line you use is soft and limp from the get go, then this stuff maybe pointless. For me, it works but if I have good quality line and it's new then what's the point. Also, I have seen this several times with this stuff, guys make two mistakes with it > 1) They don't shake the bottle. 2) They store it above or below room temp (if you store it on a boat or in your car, it seems to break down over time).
  20. It's good stuff. I have found it works better on mono and better on certain FC lines than others. For me it makes lines more manageable and it does increase casting distance. I do question how long it lasts. Sometimes, it may only a few casts. Sometimes, it's all day. I think it may have to do with how much sun exposure your line gets through out the day.
  21. I have tried it and it was not the greatest. I actually prefer several other lines to it. It not completely bad. There are just better lines out there at the same price point, that I feel are better. I would definitely not use this line on spinning gear. I would start with Invizx. It last longer and is easier to manage.
  22. I have tried KVD line conditioner and it helps some but with this line it doesn't absorb water that much which KVD line conditioner is mostly made out of. It would coat the line but after a few casts, it would just come off. On other lines, KVD works great but on super hard lines like this one, it's just didn't do its trick. I have since stopped using KVD line conditioner because of this reason. It's not because I don't like it, I just don't think I need it for the lines I use. I may change my mind in the future because it works great on Hybrid.
  23. If your looking for something that can take beating and be reliable (bullet proof) and have a in between retrieve, my mind thinks of round reels. If I had to pick, the Abu Garcia C4 comes to mind.
  24. It was one of the worst lines I have ever used. I tried 3 different spools because of a rebate. All were bad.
