Favorite Drop Shot Hook ?
I like the Owner Riggin Hook size 4 (not 4/0) and a robo worm. It's a tough, sharp, hook that can cut through but isn't too light.

Can't stop watching this!
I have seen fish chase lures on top of the ice but never break through the ice to get a bait. Pretty cool.

For the Antares Fans
Wow. I want one but at $500 I will probably have to wait.

Have you got a lure you refuse to give up on?
Megabass Cyclone SR-X. I sort of got a deal on few of these about 10 years ago for $15 a piece. They are an awesome looking bait. They have great action and run true but for whatever reason I have only caught a few fish with them.

The End of Senko Slinging
If you like throwing a senko, maybe different soft plastic...... A Zoom Lizard, Berkley Powerbait power worm, or GYCB Fat Ika.

The latest sale thread
It would be a good deal if the Dick's by me actually had ten baits on clearance that were worth buying. Its sort of hit and miss. They have been scaling down their fishing department over the years.

Spinner Bait Popularity
Agreed.... I always have one tied on but I don't tend to use them that often and when I have been out on a lake watching what other guys are fishing, I don't see that many spinner baits anymore. I am not sure why but it seems that there are some many choices in confidence baits that the spinnerbait has fallen to the bottom. It still catches fish though.

Counterfeit Seaguar Invizix?
Not turned off either. I just purchased a spool each of Seaguar's braid and some more Tatsu. I will have to wait until spring to see how the non-level wind Invizx works out.

Counterfeit Seaguar Invizix?
Odd thing is, when I first received it and asked Amazon for a refund, which they gave me, I never received any info on what to do with the spool I had so I called them. After being on hold with someone for about 15 min. so they could talk to a supervisor, they said to keep it. Two weeks go by and another spool showed up that I did not order. I called and they said it was to replace the one I had that was bad but it was exactly the same as the first. I asked if I was being charged and they said no it was an exchange. I then told them I had already received a refund for the original. They said keep it, no charge. So now I have two spools for nothing. Fake, not leveled wind, or even the real thing, I got two 1000 yard spools of line for free. I have no complaints.

Counterfeit Seaguar Invizix?
So am I finally got a response to the email and pics I sent to Seaguar. Here is my email I believe I received some counterfeit Seaguar Invisix. How can I tell? I ordered it from Amazon. The spool has a label but no level wind logo and there is no silver seaguar logo line tape holder like my old spool. Here is their response Thank you for informing us about your concern regarding the change in spooling of the 1000yd Seaguar fluorocarbon fishing line. Please rest assured that this change has not affected the performance or quality of the Seaguar fishing line that you know from us. Before making this change, we conducted numerous tests across several different fishing applications that resulted with no issues in overall quality. The strength, abrasion resistance, softness, castability, stretch, and line memory are all intact. Thank you for support in Seaguar. Sounds like I got the real thing but they chose to change the packaging and level winding the line.

Nice. I wanted to get out the past two days but was unable to, too much to do. 50+ degree weather in January, how did I not get out?

Paranormal Fishing Stories
For me the creepiest thing was a strip pit/quarry in a campgrounds called Dietz Lake near Centerpoint, IN. There are several unmarked and untouched pits on the campgrounds. We discovered this one hiking when I was a little kid. It had a sheer cliff drop on one side of about 25+ feet to the water that was crescent shaped and it had a line of a barbed wire and field of sticker bushes on the other. We cut a path to the pit on the side with the crescent so we could better check it out. We noticed if we stood at the edge of the cliff we could sort of see the bottom during the highest sunny part of the day. We brought some fishing line one day and dropped over 100 feet of it to lake and could see the spoon lure all the way down. It was sort of like looking into a magnifying glass. As kids, we visited the pit often but none of us were brave enough to jump in. It was always eerie there, no sound or wind or noise for that matter. Then one day, around the 4th of July, we went to lake during mid day and the sun had cleared a section of trees over the water for the first time and hit it in way that caused us kids to term that day "Crystal Lake Day". What had happened, we found out, is that miners during the late 1800's had hit a natural spring pocket of super high alkaline water that would cause the water not only to be crystal clear but also deadly to anything that drank from it or touched for very long. On the bottom were big pieces of crystal that looked like diamonds on the bottom when the sun hit it that day but it also reveled all of the dead animals that had sunk to the bottom. They were sort of embalmed by the water. So every year until I was about 16, we would gather at the edge of the cliff face around July 4th during the middle of the day and wait for the diamond lake to light up with all of the dead animals and watch in silence.

"Plopping" Topwaters
I look at it this way..... If the bass are hitting topwater, they will hit on just about anything if presented correctly, poppers, buzzbaits, frogs, walk the dog baits, etc. The Whopper Plooper is just another prop bait to me but by the way it is made it shows the color of the bait better, it stays on top of the water (better presentation), and the hook ups are better.

Rods and their colors
I have always fished dark colored rods, either black or gray. The only color that is a definite "No" is white. It was considered bad luck growing up to have a white rod on the water. A lot of the old school fisherman I grew up with were superstitious and a white rod, to them, could change good day into a bad day.
