Spinning rod to replace Abu ike iconelli?
St. Croix Avid 7' MF. Great rod for the money and has plenty of power and sensitivity.
- 8:1:1 Gear Ratio needed, worth getting?

Tackle organization
It looks like somebody dropped a bait shop in your basement. It's actually quite impressive.

Reels....do you stick with one brand?
Nope. I like certain brands but I own rods from G. Loomis, St. Croix, Shimano (before they purchased Loomis), Fenwick, Abu Garcia, Daiwa and All Star. Reels from Shimano, Daiwa, and Abu Garcia.

Stupid Rig - Weedless Tubes
I got to go with the Phantom Owner hooks. I still may get one caught once in a while but it's way better than the alternative.

Opinions
St. Croix Avid 6'8'' M XF for most soft plastic and jigs or the 7' M Fast for jerkbaits and senkos.

What size weights for Texas rigging
1/8, 3/16, and 1/4 depending on the depth of the water and how rocky the bottom is.

Fishing Hats
I wear a ball cap, I guess, and when it's hot I have a mesh hat that I wear. I have yet to bring my self to wear one of the safari style hats. I know it's better protection but the laughs I get when I have tried one have stopped me.

Reel tuning? Bearings?
I called Boca and spoke to some one (Mike?) about it and they said the same. I will be removing them in the future. I have not looked for it yet but he said there was instructions on their website. Also, the staff at Boca were great in handling my question. They seem to be really focused on customer service and getting things right. I will definitely order some more in the future when the need arises.

$250 range for a rod - options at Bass Pro
If it were me, I would go with the Legend Tournament 6'8'' MXF. I believe it would handle all of the techniques mentioned but it may feel a little stiff for drop shot fishing and shaky head. If quick hook sets on light line are the objectives, this rod is great.

Which 5-7 lures should I spend this upcoming season 'dialing in'??
When I want to learn a particular technique, the first thing I do is find the fish (in the general sense) and use my go to bait, a black and blue flake 5in Senko. Once I catch one, I try to keep the boat still and set up something I want to work on depending on the depth and water conditions. I think my point is that I don't try and search for fish using a new technique or one that I do not have confidence in.

Dobyn Sierra or Loomis E6X spinning rod
Both seem to have positive feed back from most people. On a side note, my fishing partner uses the E6X rods and loves them. He has tried the older IMX rods and the lower end Jig and Worm rods from Loomis and likes E6X the best. He often says the the IMX rods are too stiff. Personally, I have the old 844C IMX and it has been great.

What's a good ultralight line?
4lb Trilene XL FC has been great for me.

Reel tuning? Bearings?
I have tried three different types from Boca and had mixed results. I put a ABEC7 ceramics (non orange seal) in my Curado 201G6 and it made a huge difference. I put ABEC5 ceramics in my Core and it made a pretty good difference in feel and casting distance. Finally, I put the orange seal ceramics in my Chronarch 51E and it was just OK, no major difference. I think, for me, it all depends on the reel and how the spool initially starts up in wether you're going to see any difference in the reel. A good cleaning of the reel and flush of the old bearings may be more beneficial.

Fishing The Cooldown
If Alabama is anything like Georgia and Florida use to be, I always like mid running square crank baits, like the Lucky Craft Fat BDS6. I also like slow bouncing jigs in deeper water. But these ideas are mainly for lakes. For rivers here in Indiana when the water starts to cool, I like T-rigged senkos and ribbon tail worms.

Kvd deep squarebill
I have a few and I had mixed results. First they don't go to the depth it specifies and second I haven't really caught much with them. I have had better luck with Norman's DD22.

Line Suggestion
12lb Seaguar Invisx has been my go to. It may be me but I have never had an issue with it. I have tones of issues with braid but that does not mean it doesn't have it's place or that I don't use it. I just find that the negatives out way the positives as an all purpose line.

Counterfeit Seaguar Invizix?
When I purchased the spool it was $67 and was listed as new. After contacting Amazon and getting a refund, they have changed the listing and deleted my review. They also let me keep the spool. I have tried to contact Seaguar and have had no luck. I got nowhere with the 800 number I was able to dig up and I also emailed them but no response. I tried a few obvious things..... I cut a piece to see if it sinks or floats> It sinks immediately. I tried burning a small piece> Supposedly if it is real FC, it will not drip when it is set on fire. I also compared it to a 200 yard spool and line looks different but I am not really sure how to describe it. Here is another weird thing...... This is a pic from Tackle Warehouses website. It looks sort of like what I received.

Any backpack recommendations?
I have been using a Simms Waypoint Sling pack that I got new this year. It was sort of life changing when it comes to bank fishing. It holds just enough but obviously not everything. I like to be able to travel/hike light and not to have to set my stuff down all the time.

How long do you keep line on reels?
I usually change it on the following schedule but otherwise as needed..... Mono>about every 2-3 months FC> about once a year but I have just finally changed some Tatsu that I have had on for 3-4 years. Braid> when it starts to look bad I use some of the cheapest mono I can find for backing if the reel is new. Depending on the reel, I usually fill the spool with about 50% or less with backing.

Counterfeit Seaguar Invizix?
I purchased a 1000 yard spool of 12lb Seaguar Invizx from Amazon and it does not look like what I have purchased in the past. It doesn't look like it is spooled very well and there is no Seaquar silver sticker. Also, there is no level wind logo on the front. The line seems like it's FC but it's hard to tell for sure. Can any of you guys tell if this is fake?

Popmax/Vision 110 Colors
I like the Pro Blue in the 110 and the White Phantom in the PopMax.
