  7. this 20” spot came off a brush pile in 18 fow. i caught her on Zoom U Tail worm in green pumpkin. she weighed in at just under 4 lbs. and even zipped off some drag once she neared the little johnny. biggest spot i’ve caught in over a year. life is good.
  8. thankfully, the weekday crowds around my neck of the woods are alot less this year as opposed to last year. most of them were primarily bank beaters anyway. i still try to avoid the weekends and afternoons regardless. i will usually hit the water earlier and try to be off before noon.
  9. for me, this time of the year, deeper (15-20 fow) is more reliable. my waters are now predominantly spotted bass lakes with some occasional largemouths. the water is clearer, but not gin clear, maybe 3’ visibility. thermal stratification usually occurs sometimes around August into early-mid fall, and that changes things quite a bit. but for now, i have a milk run of locations that usually produce for me on a regular basis. some are structure, some are brush piles, some are both. and if they have a decent breeze blowing across them it’s even better. no matter what type of waters we all fish, no matter the species, fish want to be where the food is. find those places or create your own if you have the resources.
  10. another good day on the water began around 6:30 with bright sun and no breeze. but the clouds rolled in and the winds kicked up a bit, making for pleasant conditions. we caught 21 spots on Zoom plastics and were off the water by 10:30.
  11. Carolina boy in the house!
  12. fwiw, try some Megastrike. it comes in a tube and applies like a paste. you only need a small amount (smaller than pea size) and it stays on your lure longer than the liquid scents. it comes in original, garlic and crawfish. it stows easily, but you will need to keep a fish rag handy to wipe your fingers. don’t let it lay around in the sun when you’re not using it. i’ve thrown mine in the cooler on those hot days.
  13. i caught 17 spots today on Zoom 5” lizards and U tail worms in 15-20 fow. it was cloudy and cooler as a refreshing NE breeze changed things up. swt 79-80 degrees
  14. no, and scent can be applied if so desired. i use Megastrike original and garlic.
  15. i live about 5 minutes from Lake Norman. just left our local Academy, lots of empty space on the racks, and all the “good stuff” has been picked over. you can forget finding any green pumpkin or junebug plastics
