end of story ?

caught 6 spots this afternoon. these 2 came on my first and second casts of the day. swt (52) had risen a good four degrees in the last ten days and even warmer towards the back of some pockets. the wind was blowing like a freight train and i had to anchor down in order to stay on some of my brush piles. life is good.

had someone on here tell me that when i first joned the forum about six years ago. but i knew better because i’ve been throwing them almost year round for many years.

you shouldn’t have to pull up your carpet. you should get a paper template with your new recess tray. simply trace it out and use a razor knife to remove only the desired piece of carpet, drill holes at the corners and a jig saw or multi tool to cut out the decking and old recess tray. piece of cake. some decent youtubes out there too.

well done brother, it’s been almost as long for me, September of ‘98 in fact. and now that the spots have taken over around here it may never happen again.

we had a little warming trend last week so i said, “what the heck”. swt in the 44 degree range and circling gulls reminded me it was still winter conditions but i wanted to see if there were any early girls on my fresh brush piles. all i got was this one spottie Thursday afternoon. went out again yesterday moring when a dense blanket of fog rolled in and pinned me down out by an island, where i fished til it finally cleared. i threw a big thumper spinner bait but got blanked. but i was content just being on the water again.

we used to be rural, and kinda still are, but more and more farm land is being sold to developers these days. they’re stacking McMansions on 1/8 acre lots and folks are dropping a half a million dollars on them like it’s nothing. good grief.

good call. back in the day i used to use three window weights taped together with duct tape. i wrapped my nylon anchor rope around lengthwise and it stowed away nicely in my old Sea Nymph.

sounds an awful lot like my middle of the night trips to the bathroom.

maybe try a large worm hook or jig head with a weed guard instead of burying the hook. a Chompers Rock Walker jig or a Yamamoto Football Head jig both come with weed guards. ?
